PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 27, 2015) – Rutgers men’s basketball today earned a multiyear academic progress rate (APR) score of 984 for data concluding with the 2013-14 academic year. The multiyear score marked the highest for Rutgers men’s hoops since the data began being tabulated in 2004-05 and was in the top 20 percent of all men’s basketball programs.

“Graduating our players is an absolute priority,” said head coach Eddie Jordan. “We are proud to have a team culture that emphasizes academic performance. This is a credit to the dedicated work of our students, academic advisor Randi Larson and the entire support staff.”

The Scarlet Knights’ multiyear score, which has improved four consecutive years, ranked tied for sixth among Big Ten Conference men’s basketball programs.

In terms of percentile rank within sport, basketball placed second among Rutgers men’s programs. Football earned public recognition last week for placing among the top 10 percentile within sport with a 980 multiyear score.

The report is based on NCAA Division I APR data submitted by the institution for the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.

Earlier this month, Jordan and all four of his senior players – Kadeem Jack, Malick Kone Myles Mack and Stephen Zurich – participated in what marked the University's 249th Commencement. Jack and junior Jalen Hyde were named to the 2015 Winter Academic All-Big Ten Team.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention, and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
