It will be interesting how some of the athletes develop to enable them to score in the BIG ten championships.
In last year's indoor championship, the women scored 25 points, 22 in individual events by Gabrielle Farquharson and the remain 3 in a relay with Farquharson as the anchor. There were no other women athletes close to finishing in the top 8 and Gabby has graduated.
The men are in a bit better shape scoring 40 points last year. Izaiah Brown should be the favorite in the 400 meters and scored in the 200 meters. Jermaine Griffith finished 3 in the 600 meters.
If healthy both should be among the best in the Big Ten. Chais Hill scored in the hurdles as a freshmen last year. He did not run yesterday. (could be redshirting or just not entered)
In the field events, Corey Crawford has finally used up his eligibility in the long jump. Emeka Eze placed in the both the long jump and triple jump last year. He was listed as a senior last year but is still on the roster. I think he was injured in the spring so may have redshirted there but has no eligibility for winter track.
The most interesting result yesterday was the win by frosh Tobi Tella with a winning Triple jump result that would have scored in last years Big Ten. Most of the other result were not eye popping by themselves but is was the first competition this season for most and I am not certain how fast a facility the bubble is. There were some other athletes who did not compete who had times last year close to qualifying for the finals and scoring points- two in particular Brendan Jaegar Morgan Murray in the 800 meters. There are also some jumpers that with some improvement could be scorers.
Soph Paul Jairus had a nice result at Princeton in December in the Triple jump that could lead to a scoring result at the BIg Ten.
