RU Lax Surges To #8 In Media Poll

Just saw that Duke lost to High Point University. I'm sure that will have zero implications on their tournament resume, should they be on the bubble (in all reality they likely won't be on the bubble). Yet, that would be a death sentence for Rutgers.

And Duke has Denver on Saturday. Interesting that the Denver roster has zero players from Maryland and New York. Just further confirmation that the game is spreading.

And Syracuse lost to Colgate.

But that's OK, February doesn't count for the ACC.

Once those ACC teams start beating each other, they will all accumulate a 'good' win or two and get into the tournament. Losing to High Point is OK when you can beat Syracuse (even though Syracuse can't beat Colgate). Of course the joke is that someone has to win those games.

Hopefully everyone can see now that this was a good win. Early season games are always tricky, especially against regional rivals. St. John’s is a talented team that is much improved over last season. I think we will look back as the season wears on and see that SJU was no pushover in retrospect, much like Robert Morris last year.

On to Army which will be a battle as always. Getting them at home is a huge advantage as that has often been the difference in this series.

A lot of big games this week
Denver/Duke
Loyola/Hopkins
Albany/Cuse
Lehigh/UVA
Then just hope High point and Colgate lose

Too bad you missed it. Sports aren't a ship. I recommend taking it easy next time and just enjoy our talented team.
So this is funny...my rule of thumb is don't post on boards during games...lots of swings and ups and downs in games...emotions play out and we post crazy things...so my rule is no posting in game :)

Kind of like the 24 hour rule...let news or what you just watch marinate a bit...then react and give thoughts...but that's just me

I'm a Rutgers newbie and most folks on here know why I'm a new Rutgers (lacrosse) fan...but I am tied to another big ten school that is my school from a fandom standpoint...and I'm on that board as well...and I have to use this rule a lot...especially when things are not going well for my "other" school ;)

So no lax program at your other B1G school....hmmmm.....and a golfer....I'll say either IU, UI, PU, NW, MSU, Wiscy, Iowa, Minny, or Nebraska??

Well let's just say I live in Michigan and I strongly dislike the institution based in Ann Arbor ;)

I can't emphasize how strongly my dislike is...I'll just leave it there...

But you know what...I've watched more Rutgers basketball, in the last 2 months than I have in my life and I'm learning to follow all things Rutgers....I'll support my sons school...especially lacrosse...you can count on that...

Wish Sparty would revive their lax program and then someone like NW or Wisconsin starts a lax team to give us an even 8 team conference.

Awesome! One of my best friends was a gymnast at State in the mid-90's. Think he held a bunch of records, at the time, too!

We talk about this all the time...would love to have 3-4 more big tens teams regroup and add lacrosse...but as you all know, it's about money and equity (title 9)...so many of these universities are not looking to add another non-rev sport..It's too bad, but I don't see MSU adding it anytime soon...they have more important things to work through (as they should)

But it would be great to see some great college towns like East Lansing (MSU), Bloomington (IU), Madison (Wisky)....and yes, NW in Chicago....all add lacrosse...

Lots of Midwest TV sets, lots of interest and that would continue to foster more growth...

But I'm not holding my breath...unfortunately

@Caliknight ... i think i saw PSU @ 4. is that a legit rating? seems weird for what they did last year.
As much as you hate to do it, we have to root for PSU, UMICH, and OSU in out of conference. We need the ACC to lose a lot. The RPI is so screwy that we need the B1G teams to do well before conference play

100%. It's how the acc used to get every team in the tourney. They'd dominate their OOC schedules than beat each other (except Uva. They'd just let them in anyway).

Now the B1G is top dog and needs to be afforded this luxury. We want every B1G team winning every OOC game possible.

As md said, they got their trigger man back. He brings it all together. And they have a ton of talent, and a great fogo. They play Yale in a few weeks. That will be interesting.

I am not sold on Villanova. I know it's just a scrimmage and they were missing a few guys, but so were we, and we woodsheded them too.

Robert Morris is a team that plays absolutely reckless. If you are winning faceoffs against them you are going to put up serious numbers because they go for broke in every facet of the game.

Still, Penn St. is putting up eye popping numbers. The B1G, as always, will be an absolute meat grinder every week.

Fortunately the sport of lacrosse has grown and there are more quality teams who can pick off an ACC team and they can’t just coast in OOC. All Cuse basically had to do last year was show up because of their SOS.

Cuse took a big blow today...Tucker Dordevic is out for the year with a foot injury...that's a blow

Just an FYI as we play them in a month

That's a huge loss for them. I caught some of their game against Colgate. Syracuse looked very pedestrian from a talent perspective. Playing in the Dome is a challenge, but from a physical perspective, we match up very well. Talent doesn't always win, but we will walk on that field with more of it.

They are scary good on offense and at the faceoff X, their defense I think will be a work in progress and their goalie is ok. Like Cali said I am not sold on Nova and they were stilling missing important pieces. RMU lost 3 of their top 4 poles and the faceoff guy was bad made for a lot of make it take it for PSU.
Someone else made another good point and that was that PSU played both of those games at home indoors which is a significant advantage. That being said yes they are very good and could be one of the top teams in the Big Ten this year.

It might be just anecdotal observation, but it seems like the "Cuse is not getting the fan turn out they did 10-15 years ago. For a match against a good team they could get 12,500-15,000 even for a regular season game. Now it seems it's more like 5-7K.

They are still a dangerous team, and I am not predicting a win vs them. Yet. But they are not the program they were. No one is scared to play them. They play Albany this weekend. I predict Albany will take that one.
