ru-princeton any score?

This should go over well.....49-22 PU with 7 minutes left

We're getting our heads handed to us by 0-4 Princeton. Yup, YET ANOTHER PROGRAM that has passed us by. SMH.

I'm now forced to rethink my prediction that they will get more than 5 wins. I'll be thrilled to get the first one.
Onto to the next game...

The womens basketball program for over a decade was the premiere sports program at Rutgers in regard to national exposure. In the last 2-3 years fans saw the slow regression in talent and success. This season is the culmination where talent is at such a level that any wins would be unexpected.Stringer is a Hall of Fame coach who is nearing the end of her tenure at Rutgers. It would be great for her to leave on a high note but in sports what matters is the present. The womens basketball program is now reaching the lowly state of past mens basketball teams which is something that no Rutgers fan should want.

Just how bad does it have to get before something is done? I didn't go to RU, but somehow I love the university. Mens' soccer with 1 win for the season, Football with 0 conference wins (so far), Volleyball a disaster (I'm probably missing some other examples). And now a HOF coach can't buy a win. Will 10 wins force Hobbs' hand? 8? 5? Less than 5? This is beyond belief. 64-34 to a Princeton team?

I noticed there are no quotes from Coach Stringer in any of the game articles this year.

Wow - a 30 point loss to Princeton who was winless coming into the game. I get the injuries and all but would expect them to be at least competitive against Princeton. I hope there is some progress a least before the end of the year. I also wonder how much the complete staff turnover from the past couple seasons factors in?

she needs to go...Hobbs made a huge mistake bringing her back, the previous contract was to get her to nudge to retirement, looks like she will go out the hard and ugly way with a 4-28 record this year with major embarrassment in the Big 10 and Hobbs will show her the pink slip

oh Banghart is the perfect replacement

No game thread. No discussion whatsoever of the game itself. Board is as dead as the program. The time is drawing near to fold this board into the soccer/lacrosse/baseball board.
I think that's a little unnecessary. I for one had work all day. And a lot of ppl still celebrate the holiday today and a lot I'm sure we're at the men's game. Besides where would all you trolls go? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::smiley:

Very good a assessment of the State of the RU WBB program as it stands now.
Even an avid CVS supporter, like I am, can't deny what you are saying and appreciates the respectful way you did [cheers]

and that has to do with this website how?
just a dig like the ones posted on the FB & MBB boards to put Stringer down and act like it's caring for the WBB program.
Some really do care, some just bash.
Usually could tell by how many times they ran to the WBB board after a win compared to their mad rush after a loss.
This season there is no way to compare, because it's that bad .

The entire Rutgers community is to blame. Rutgers holds on to its coaches way too long. Kyle Flood: even after the non-recruiting, improprieties and multiple embarrassments off the field, many still supported him. Eddie Jordan was a college coaching disaster. Vivian lost it years ago--Rutgers should be a top 25 team EVERY YEAR. Hobbs should have changed last year. Even now there is a significant percentage of fans who still want Vivian here for sentimental and "milestone" reasons. Ash is a disaster here: Rutgers has the 127th best offense out of 128 schools. That should translate into an automatic dismissal of the offensive coordinator. When you are the worst in America in your profession as Drew Mehringer is (next to the absolute worst--to be correct)--you should lose your position. However, we all know that coaches are NOT considered employees at Rutgers (which they really are!!!!). At Rutgers they are family members--which is the WRONG mentality. The well-being of the UNIVERSITY is what matters!! That is why Rutgers--my school--is a sports disaster. So sad.

Not nearing the end, she is past her end. RU needs to do something before the damage is unrepairable.

I agree we hold on to coaches way to long and it ruins many of our programs this being one. If something is not done soon we will be so far in the abyss we may never come out of it.

At least we played equally bad offensively in 2 qtrs and not just one. Looks like a bad HS line score.

Mehringer has NO play makers (after losing Grant), and is in his first year as an OC. In the very least give him a few years before you evaluate. If CVS had her way she'll be walking out to the beach using a walker before she retires

waretown and shill : You were both banned from this board years ago, remember? Yes, this year's team is terrible, but that's no excuse for you to troll this board. And no, we're not going to fold this board into the "other sports board". That wouldn't solve anything, and it certainly wouldn't help the team play better. I'm really tired of folks calling out wbball fans with your "why aren't there any threads" meta-discussion. It wasn't our idea to schedule a 2:00 pm game, with no TV coverage, on one of the biggest shopping days of the year. A lot of wbball fans are, well, women - and many of us do like to shop. ;-)

To everyone else - fire away at the team's poor performance this year, but expect me to lock any thread or delete any posts on the following themes:

1. Why isn't there a game thread? (If you want a game thread, don't complain - start a game thread yourself.)

2. Self-congratulations about how "x" years ago you were so brilliant to predict the team's downfall. Most of the folks who post these comments seem just a little too happy to see their prophecies come to fruition. If this makes you happy, then you're not a Rutgers fan and you shouldn't post here.

Thank you.

Would the UConn assistant from Rutgers or another top assistant be willing to come here for 2017-18 so there is some type of "transition without firing" for Stringer and then have the new coach take over for 2018-19 ?

No one wants the women to do bad. I want every program at RU to be great but this program has been on the decline for a number of years and CVS should have retired without putting Hobbs in the unenviable position of retaining her which is going to set this program back another 5 years. We won't even win 5 games this year

The internet concept of a troll makes absolutely no sense. There should be free speech. Whether you are a fan of a team or on the opposing side. We live in a democracy.

I expect this is Stringers last year, she always returned because RU had winning records and despite the naysayers whining about the W-L record, she deserved to come back as HC.
This season if it goes on like this, I don't know if it will or not, it will be a reason for RU to ask her to retire ( if she doesn't decide that on her own) because she's being replaced and the school don't want to terminate her unless forced.
Being honored as Head Coach Emeritus would be a great way for Stringer to go out, if this season warrants it.
Personally I would love to see C.Vivian Stringer get her 1000 victory while the RU HC,
but I think she needs 31 more and that's probably impossible to do this season and depending on RU's W-L record this year , next year might not be assured. Hobbs will make the decision based on what he thinks is best for the future of the WBB program and I'll support his decision, even if he decides to replace Vivian .

She had a long successful run and I hope this season turns around so that run will continue. But if it don't whoever Hobbs hires will have my support without one single whine by me on this board.

I thought that most people would know by now that the first amendment has no relevance to message boards, which have their own rules.
