Well that home visit didn't seal the deal..commits to PITT this evening.

The Scarlet Knights are hoping to put the finishing touches on their recruitment of an explosive skill player in Aliquippa (Pa.) senior wide receiver Will Gipson -- who Rutgers has recruited hard over the past couple months.

"Rutgers is coming for a home visit tomorrow," Gipson, the 6-3, 170-pound three-star receiver told NJ Advance Media on Sunday morning. "It'll be Lester Erb, the wide receivers coach, and I think one more but I'm not sure who he's bringing."

During the visit, Gipson hopes to touch on a few key topics.

"Just my future, playing time, how my school and home life will be -- everything that pertains to me going to where I need to be in the future," he said.

Though he admits he could eventually commit, he says it's more likely to take place "in the future."

Rutgers will also get time with Gipson on an official visit tentatively set for the middle of December, providing an opportunity for the pledge, especially with the early signing period just days away at that point.

"I think my official for Rutgers is Dec 14th," he said.

Very true. He was waiting to for an offer from Pitt. Once they offered, we were toast.
It's like the same for the RB commit we have from Ohio. tOSU never offered him.

No other P5 school offered him. He ain't getting an Ohio State offer.

I wouldn’t feel bad about this one. Gipson was pining for an offer from Pitt since the summer, and when we offered Monday it was a foregone conclusion he was going to Pitt.

As long as Ash and company are here its ABR for power five recruits.Anywhere But Rutgers.
HOBBS cant be this stupid to see what a waste of 11 months this will be,and further erroding the talent base by keeping Asherror.
He wasn’t a P5 recruit until we offered, and Pitt offered which was what he really wanted. So what’s your issue now?

You guys are insufferable. He wanted to play close to home.

...honestly what comes to mind when you (or anyone else) tries to defend our recruiting at this point (really this entire year):

You are a little less. Nowhere did I defend recruiting. I stated a fact.

C'mon man. You know it's not this one player. Every school loses players. It's been months since we landed anyone who had another P5 offer. There's an excuse for every kid who commits elsewhere. Of course we're not going to land every recruit. No one does. But recruiting doesn't suck because one WR decided to play home. It sucks because nobody wants to come here.

I can understand the kid wanting to play closer to home, but our staff is pretty lousy with cultivating that same ideal with most NJ recruits they come across...and they’re almost equally as lousy with the kids who want to ‘get away’ (Florida DE going to TCU). Hobbs’ letter from 2 days ago would almost seem pretty funny if it wasn’t so pathetic for a B1G team to be recruiting like this in 2018.

Ash and staff recruit at Mac level..thats the past issue abd current issue. Many of last years verbals and this year's never had a power 5 commitible offer.
Its not going to get better after this seasons record and Ash being one foot out door.

I think what he is pointing out is the fact that the same people who were screamimg "Why are you recruiting this guy?" on Sunday are now screaming "
How could you let him get away? on Thursday.

Must be that ‘great recruiting’ Hobbs was talking about in his letter (along with the Florida DE picking TCU over us).

The problem is this coaching staff has to go after under the radar type kids. That's why most of them have offer lists that consist of mostly non P5 schools. Usually if a school that the player perceives as higher profile comes along well ......you know the rest of the story. IMO Ash has not established enough recruiting relationships in the north east. That combined with the dismal results on the field give every other P5 school (and some group of 5 schools) a profile then RU.

...agreed, and it’s why not moving on was a remarkably horrible decision by Hobbs/Barchi/ whomever at this point.

this staff couldn't recruit when they had something to sell - a new era, a staff with B1G experience. Now they have nothing to sell but an embarrassing program that has regressed. And the fact that everyone in the entire world knows that Ash is a dead man walking makes it even hard to recruit, and of course is the most significant reason why the decision to bring him back is beyond idiotic.

We will have a class that will rank up there with Monmouth and Elon

Maybe, I didn't say that. He had great stats against top notch competition. His Rivals rating is pretty high too. He ran slow at Nike camp which was the one knock on him. But I thought he was a good prospect.

Yeah but that doesn’t fit the Ash Bashers narrative. So much easier just to make shit up. #fakenews

I don't think anyone is screaming about letting him get away, it's more like:

Sunday: Why are we offering a guy with no P5 offers?

Thursday: Geez, we can't even land a guy with no P5 offers?

The actual recruit is irrelevant...

Personally I was somewhat surprised. Brian Dohn insisted that Aliquippa HS did not have a good relationship with Pitt. They wouldn't even offer. lol

And the lemmings have been conditioned to follow him blindly. How did that work out?

I agree. The kid was going to Pitt if they offered. But, following that logic, I am going to assume that Ash cleans up on all the 3 and 4 star recruits in NJ, after all, wanting to play close to home applies to NJ recruits as well as PA.

...EXACTLY.

I thought Ash only offers low level FCS players? Why would Pitt have interest in a kid who’s best offer was Ball State? Narduzzi needs to spend more time on the message boards, and get an idea of what to do.

...while you may have a point with some posters, with the way Ash is recruiting right now I don’t think this is the optimal time for these kinds of statements.

Exactly..
You have to give the staff credit for finding a kid with limited offers in Pitts backyard..the kid should thank RU for the attention as that appears to have garnered Pitts offer..

By allowing Ash to stay Hobbs has pushed RU recovery for the next coach back two more recruiting cycles.please stop with the "under the radar" designation for lesser talented recruits and call them what they are,non power five level talent.

Hoping that this current staff will improve their performances of the past.Ash did pick up the D performance .But the secondary still needs a lot of work. They will improve when the D line gets more pressure on the QB.The O is another story entirely.RB's need seams to run through. QB is still a disaster area.WR's are MIA We need a B1G type O line. Don't have the personnel for it.The only improvement is losing some of the players. In the first sentence I was hoping. To close ,I will be practical. This staff did NOT get it done in recruiting and on the field in the past. What has changed to make any of us think that they will get it done in the Future?

we just have to look at the won loss record and his lousy recruiting, dont need to make anything up.asherror is destroying the program and hobbs is floundering.

Hobbs is as clueless as it comes to college football.
The program continues on its death spiral and Hobbs can only speak about his facilities achievements at RU. Unreal
