twice in a row. No call. Rachel got hit and they shoot ftsWe don't get a call by clock gate ref Tina Napier
Which was practically every possession. This offense is very difficult to watch.terrible and it all stemmed from the possession they ran clock

Seems like this Rutgers Womens team really underachieved. Lot of good experienced talent did not come through. Unfortunately, WNIT is about right for them.
when you are criticized you always say you are entitled to voice your opinion and that's what message boards are for. But when someone voices their opinion, you immediately decide yours is the only correct one. Ignore me if you don't like my thoughts but I've seen it enough times to believe what I see.stop blamin the refs...if they ran the offense and hit free throws they win

And yes, the missed fts and lack of urgency down the stretch killed us. But believe it or not, you're not the expert you may believe you are. And not everyone agrees with your opinions.
Refs had nothing to do with the game. And if you like your opinion so be it. Though that's like me saying that we lost because the temperature in the building was 68 degrees. That's my opinion.
In the words of Boz Scaggs (I know, I'm dating myself) "It's over, it's over now..." This team underachieved the entire year, but I don't blame them. I blame Stringer's inability to run anything resembling a decent offense. Once again, when Purdue ran a zone at them or a half court press, our women resorted to passing the ball around the perimeter ad nauseum and then with time running out on the shot clock chucked up a prayer that was never answered. Purdue clogged up the inside knowing that our women could not shoo from the outside. Purdue's coach ran double screens and had a wonderful inside outside game that got the Lady Boilermakers open shots outside and down low. Their offense had movement and flow, something I've NEVER seen with a Stringer offense. The offense C Viv is running looks like the same offense she's been running for forty years. It doesn't work. It never has unless you get superstars like Cappie, Essence or Matee making their own shots.
Now, I'm rooting form them to beat Michigan and win a few B1G tourney games so they can get into the NIT. I think even as a consolation, Canty, Hollivay and Copper deserve to go out with a tournament. It's also good for the frosh to get some tournament experience, because we will need them to step up big time next year so that Tyler S. is not the only scoring alternative out there.
Bac, it boggles my mind when I see RU's so-called offense. HS coaches run a better offense than what we're seeing at RU. And I'm not criticizing to criticize. What Stringer runs is beyond embarrassing. An offense as you rightly stated has to have a "purpose" which of course is putting the ball in the basket. But how is that done? Through high and low post play; screens; good passing inside and out and looking for either an open man or through great deception of finding, exposing and taking advantage of mismatches. If Stringer allowed one of her assistants to actually run an offense similar to what Purdue ran at them last night, this team would score on a much more consistent basis; score a lot more points than they've ever scored under Stringer and actually get better shots both inside and out. When I watch this anemic resemblance of an offense, I can only think of what Geno or Brenda would do with our three All American women? Not only would they all average double digits consistently, but they would NOT be losing to teams like Purdue or even Michigan State on a regular basis. In fact it's inexcusable with this kind of talent to be 7-10 in conference right now with one regular season game remaining. To say this team underachieved is an UNDERSTATEMENT.great post...summed it up well...did you see the great spacing and movement that Purdue had on offense...it had purpose..and they really had only two scoring threats. Contrast that with RU's slow half court which wasted 20 seconds before looking to run an offense.
there was one play in regulation...it was Coppers made 3 to pull within 1....RU must have wasted 25 seconds and then put up a shot and got a rebound and then wasted more time before the Copper shot...big shot there but RU had no urgency, running clock as if there were 10 minutes left in the game. It appears the team has no clue what to do late in the game in a half court offense despite lots of upperclassmen. The feeble shots by Scaife in the last couple of possesions say it all. They have been coached to be so tentative that they have no confidence in end game situations. It was poor that they took the air out of the ball on the one possession where Tyler hoisted a shot with one second on the clock and she got fouled...and missed both to boot. That was the key possession there, RU up 3 with the ball instead of being aggressive decided to be passive. Much like they did in the first half which contributed to the loss
