Hi all, thinking of making the drive down tonight for the RU-SHU game. A couple of questions: tickets at the arena the way to go? And how does parking work, is it free? Have never been down for a basketball game, and my season ticket for football is parking in the Black lot. TIA

Where about are you coming from? Tickets at the front of the RAC/ticket windows are usually easy to get. Don't let some joker rip you off. On the other hand there also might be some nice soul giving some away they can't use. You can park for free if you want to take a bit of a walk from the outer lots on campus. Have fun, you all have a very good chance to win. Bozella is a show all in himself.

I’m coming from Jersey City, so I am also considering taking the train down to Edison and just getting a Lyft/Uber over to the arena. You’re right that Bozella is a sight - I have a season ticket for Hall MBB but cheer for both RU and SHU, so I’m excited to see what happens. Thanks for the info!

The team is actually pretty good with sets both on O and D (this is my first time watching them) but sadly, they can’t make a basket from short jumpers to even layups. Could surprise some teams if the ball goes in, but probably will not be consistent unless they can start to finish shots

Now we’re letting their PG take wide open 3s, she just took and made 3 straight from the same spot with no hand in her face, 9-0 run by herself to push SHU up 12. Finally timeout CW to remind our girls to guard her

SHU has 27 points on 3s, RU only 3
One bright spot 11/11 from the free throw line

It is going to be a long and sad year.
Shouldn't one of the requirements for Power Six/Div 1 scholarship basketball players be that they can put the ball IN the basket.
Stringer screwed Rutgers.

Attendance reported 1387. Sad. I don't know what else to say. in a separate thread someone commented that winning sells tickets. That is a fact; we had over 6000 in Arizona yesterday.

🙁 Hey Knight Time, ......nothing personal, but that's(Ariz' attendance) the last thing we RU fans want to hear about right now, I'm sure. 🤨 .....lol

Yes, as you state, the attendance is and has become more and more saddening for a while now. I can't speak for everyone else on here, but it seems that most, like myself, are resigned to the fact that it is just going to take time to build it back up. I think most are excited about the direction thing are heading right now though.

A lot of good reasons for attendance to be poor at tonight's game. First of all, it's only THE most heavenly time of the year for the sports fan.....NFL, NBA, CFB, MCBB, WCBB,...on and on. That's why I say, keep the kids coming to the games and serve up the popcorn. We need to grow the fan base from the ground up.

Also, there were no headliners on either side tonight, players or coaches. All involved are currently in the prove that you belong stage right now. First step to regaining the fans is bringing in the elite talent. We are taking that step, in the sense that Coach Co is implementing an exciting style of play to entice them.

Have to admit,.....it is distressing to see all these other programs just loading up on talent........ S.Car., NC, Duke, LSU, Ariz, Florida, Vandy, etc.

Looking at that UConn Geno show on SNY just sickens me. Yes, I'm sad for Paige's injury...don't wish that on any player. But Geno acting like it's tough times now that she and one of their heralded freshman are out for the season. Give me a break!! He has a whole roster of top 25 players, many top 10 ranked recruits. AND top notch portal transfers. They should be expected to go all the way as much as any other program. He's got EVERYTHING.

All this and hearing Arizona's attendance and seeing their abundance of riches with recruiting,.....These are the things that the Rutgers fan is going to need to block out over the next few years to get through the growing pains.

Surprised they got 1300. Wonder how many were from SHU.
It didn't look like 1300 on TV. Huge open blocks in the lower level sidelines, no one in the second level maybe 50 people in the student section including the band. That may have counted giveaways and tickets sold but no way that many showed up. It looked like maybe 500.

But the point is, the core fan base should attend regardless. Our first year with season tickets at Rutgers was Vivian's first. Her first and 2nd season were not good; we also had a very down year between the 1st Final Four and the Cappie years. As should be obvious - but someone actually asked - our departure in 2011 had nothing to do with colleges or women's basketball (except we always planned to move to a college town).

Also, Arizona has only had good attendance the last few years, after winning the WNIT and then making the Final Four. During our first 7 years as season ticket holders at Arizona the record was approximately 75 - 135, no winning seasons, one season of 5 - 25 and one of 4 - 26. That's through 2018 which was actually the worst year. The last 4 seasons - 90-33. A complete turn-around is possible. But I don't understand fans just giving up, even though the point of my post remains valid - "just win, baby" as someone once said.

lol thx CVS….
glad you think this loss is funny and the way CVS' tenure ended undoubtedly hurt the program but overall the CVS era RU was a winner and RU WBB was a respected program

Guess you find ways to bash the program this year and laugh at every loss.
Very seldom have you supported RU WBB and always found an excuse to bash it

yep funny to some who have shown disdain for the RU WBB program even though it usally won.
I was hoping this new HC would be given a shot before the bashers entered laughing.
Guess it wasn't just the old HC but the program itself that you really disliked

The way CVS refused to step down when she could was a bummer and did hurt the program.
The 52 ranking brought a smile on my face, wasn't the same type of enjoyment. ,for the program, that makes you smile.
Mine was because it showed more respect for the program than I thought would be the case.
Yours, in my opinion, was because you laugh at most things that put the program in a good light.. Complements aren't what you want to hear when it comes to the program.

I feel the ranking was as good as it was because of the respect RU WBB has because of he Stringer years and it's being carried over into the CW era.

There is no reality to rank this team which was bad last year and has only 7 players as 52

I have supported women’s basketball at RU since I was in school. Even remember driving down to Saint Joe’s to see the team win an Atlantic 10 tournament with Carolyn DeRoose. Threw huge parties in Hoboken when we were in the Final 4 under CVS, as well, both times. You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. Sorry if you don’t like hearing the truth about the disaster that CVS left behind.

…. And I don’t find the lost “funny” at all but you damn well better believe I’ll speak my peace about any and every sport, or coach, as it’s my God-given right as an American citizen to do so.

Don't mind hearing the truth, when it is an honest evaluation and not a snide remark, but it's my God given right to say what I feel when pointing out someone's petty bash and also the right I hold as an American that is a Rutgers WBB fan : to call em as I see em.

Completely agree BUT you might want to check yourself on the personal stuff just a tad. I get that you have a more intimate relationship with the program than I do, and I appreciate that, but com’on.

Completely agree.
Lol and I mean that in the nicest way because on this women's BB board we seem to disagree more than agree.
Glad we agree on our right to say what we feel about an issue , even if t is something we might not agree on.
