RU-Wisconsin: Red zone scoring defense

Big difference between giving up a TD and giving up a FG. Do you have Wisconsin's breakdown?

Wisconsin is on page 3.
So this is showing opponents have a 100% success rate but it also shows that they've only allowed the opponent to reach the red zone 12 times, which is actually really good and better than us.

Ohio State has allowed the opponent to reach the red zone 5 times all season. That's crazy good.

I haven't seen OSU play yet, but they get lots of mentions on TV and all as being very good this year. Could be their year.

I'm more concerned with our ability to get into the red zone. We've seemed to stall out as we cross on to our opponent's side of the field.

I am coming to the conclusion that we are only a fair but not a good team There is a lot of work to be gone.

Because Schiano. Philosophy is ground and pound a few yards at a time and short passing game to keep defenses honest, which doesn’t work when the D crowds the line anyway.

Larger point being, without any chunk plays too many snaps are needed for long drives. Sooner or later you’re likely to have a few unsuccessful plays or penalties to kill drives.

Good offenses may only need 8-10 plays for scoring drives. 15-20 play drives aren’t usually sustainable.

It’s GS’s strategy to shorten games but it costs points.

See the % stat referenced often. If efficiency (or whatever the appropriate term is) was the goal, never understood why Pts/Att wasn’t used.
