  • The biggest reasons PSU stifled Rutgers running game last year, Safety Adrian Amos and defensive End Deion Barnes and linebacker Mike Hull are no longer playing for PSU. Their replacements aren't as good. Add in that PSU lost their starting MLB in Nyeem Wartman, and PSU is in big trouble against this Rutgers team.
  • Denman is playing much better than he was playing last year and Miller Is a very effective pulling Guard. Add in Nelson, who made some terrific blocks against WSU and I think Rutgers will be able to run on PSU.
  • Josh Hicks and Robert Martin are better than Saquan Barkley. Robert Martin made NFL moves on WSU defenders last week. I think we can control the game with these two.
  • Laviano has been fairly accurate, but today he'll need to perform under pressure. I hope he doesn't get rattled by the crowd. His number 1 priority has to be to avoid turnovers. He should be able to put up decent numbers as Rutgers should be able to focus its resources on blocking Zettel, PSU's best lineman, and give him enough time to find open receivers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Flanagan have a big day. If Laviani is struggling, the staff cannot afford to hesitate to go with Rettig.
  • Penn State won't be able to cover Flanagan, Arch, Grant, Agudosi and Patton. Agudosi has to be able to catch the ball. If he can demonstrate consistency, Rutgers could blow out PSU. Receivers are going to have to be aggressive in going after the ball, as the ball may not always be thrown perfectly. As long as they can adjust to the flight of the ball, which Carroo was so good at doing, we should be fine.
  • We have better athletes than Temple, though I don't expect us to get the ten sacks that they did. The left tackle they are playing doesn't react quickly, and lacks strength and technique to recover from mistakes. If Turay was 100%, we could project a big day for him, but I'll be happy with a few. The rest of their line isn't that great. Our defense should be able to bully their offense.
  • Hackenburg will get his yards on our young/depleted secondary. But our offense will be able to keep pace.

I think we keep pace and pull it out with a field goal in the last few minutes.

I can buy Al's prediction. I think State Farm will win, but it should be close. One problem with Al's post, though: their defense is really good. Still. Yeah, they lost those guys, but I think they can still stop teams, but I don't think your offense is running as well as it could be ... not yet, anyway. Don't love the QB, Caroo is out, RBs don't wow me. At a packed Beaver Stadium, it'll be tough.

On the other hand, if you can get good pressure on Hackenberg - and their O-line is pitiful - you can overcome your inexperienced DBs. I don't think it'll be a beautiful game, but it should be close enough.

I guess Al doesn't expect to see any other QB than Laviano. If he really does show lack of arm strength as many note, I would hope that we see a change.

I agree with most of what you said except for about the RBs. I think Hicks Martin and PJ are a lethal combo and one week they will finally break out.

I think we lose bc we don't have a pass rush, no secondary, and our passing game looks weak.

Could be, but they haven't had to play against a legitimate defense yet. State Farm's D-line is a far, far cry from Norfolk State and Wazzu. They're VERY good.

Yeah, except they havnt even done much yet this season. Fact is they are a good backfield. This is based on knowledge of following the team very closely, not the past two games. I'm not saying they break out tonight. But they will break out this season.

They can stop teams, they can't stop Rutgers because we have too much talent. I honestly don't know how they cover our WRs. Losing Carro might not hurt if Agudosi can catch th ball. He had a good spring and summer, so it's time for him to shine. The only question in my mind is whether Laviano can deliver the ball effectively and stay away from turnovers.

I'm counting on the RBs to be effective tonite.

For one RutgersAl isn't an idiot. For two, we should actually be able to get pressure on their QB. Last week for some reason the DC was afraid to send more than 4 guys, I guess because of the many talented receivers WSU had. As they say live by the blitz or die by the blitz. What we don't have is a seasoned shrewd QB. So we should get sacks but we will probably turn the ball over once or twice. It should be a good game.

The resident geniuses at work again. It's always the guy with the worst BO that doesn't know he stinks.

The lunacy continues. This clown really believes the BS that he posts.
Needs a dose of reality.

He was right about us getting a late field goal..... That's about it.....

Al, you almost batted 100%. Every single statement incorrect, except for your 4th point - that did turn out to be fairly correct.

Impressive performance, even given your outstanding track record.

A pretty dismal result based on Al's predictions. Anyone else notice that he does tend to disappear for awhile when things like this happen?
But, the eternal optimist will be back for sure.

Yes....he is.
On this board......talking about Rutgers football...he's the King of Idiots.
I don't think he's an idiot, but, I do think he knows less about football than any human in the free world.
