MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

The harriers had a good day on Saturday, finishing second out of ten at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Manhattan took first place while Columbia finished third. The top two RU finishers were Trent Brinkofski and Dominick Munson, who finished fifth and sixth respectively.

MEN’S FOOTBALL – Idle

MEN’S SOCCER – It wasn’t a win, but it was a least a favorable result on Friday as RU earned a 1-1 home draw against Michigan, thanks to Niel Guzman’s tying goal in the 35th minute. The team’s record now stands at 0-4-2 in the B1G and 0-8-2 overall.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

The women also participated in the Metropolitan Championships and also did well, finishing third in a field of eleven. The host school Fordham won the competition and Manhattan finished second. The Knights were led by Deanna DiLandro and Alexandra Juzwiak, who finished ninth and tenth respectively.

WOMEN’S FIELD HOCKEY

The field hockey team’s week got off to a tough start on Friday, with a 3-1 home loss to #10 Michigan. They turned it around on Sunday with a 1-0 OOC win against St. Joseph’s, on an OT goal by Alyssa Bull. Their record now stands at 1-3 in the B1G and 7-5 overall.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

It was a mixed week for what has become RU’s flagship program. It started with a 2-1 home win against Purdue, thanks to Madison Tiernan’s goal in OT. The #24 ranked team then traveled to Bloomington on Sunday, where they drew 2-2 with Indiana. The team’s record now stands at 4-1-2 in conference and 9-2-3 overall.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING and DIVING

The swimmers opened their season at the Florida Gulf Coast Swimming Classic, where they finished sixth in a field of six. LSU took the title, followed by Ohio State and Virginia Tech. The best RU finisher was Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba, who finished third in the 200 freestyle.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

The women participated this weekend in the three day Navy Invitational. This is a series of singles and doubles tournaments involving eight schools, with no formal team scoring. RU won two of the doubles tournaments. Senior Farris Cunningham and freshman Jacqueline Cochrane captured the “B” flight final, while junior Lee Levy and freshman Kyra Yap secured the “C” flight final.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The volleyball team continued to struggle with two straight set losses, at home to #2 Wisconsin on Thursday and at #15 Penn State on Saturday. This drops their record to 0-6 in conference and 4-15 overall.

If RU women's soccer had only preserved its lead at IU, they'd be in second place in the B1G. If they had done that and defeated Illinois, they'd be in first place, alone. Two real missed opportunities there against the bottom half of the league. Hopefully, they will get it done against PSU, which is currently alone in first.
