Rutgers Baseball Hosts Michigan for Weekend Series

Boom. Brito was listening- Grand salami in the first in inning puts RU up 4-0.

Michigan storms back from 6-0 deficit to tie game in the 4 th. Three of their runs were the result of a bases loaded double play and two wild pitches. Ugh. This should be a wild one.

Edit- rains came and game postponed . More pitching woes. Does RU lead the country in wild pitches? Seems that way.

Not postponed yet:

Go Rutgers -- you have a shot a two conference win today...
with our lack of pitching depth, we are going nowhere. And it's a shame because we have excellent hitters. But either Owens hasnt recruited enough good pitchers or he retains an ineffective pitching coach. Probably a little of both.

Michigan scored 3 unearned runs to take the lead 11-8 B8. Shut them out Friday and gave up 11 ,so far, in the next.

RU blows early 6-0 lead and loses Game 2 of the series 13-8. Bummer. Pitching woes continue l

Alright! One only game under .500 and first of many series wins!

Interesting that RU, thru all the troubles, still has the 2nd highest RPI in the B1G (#47). Only team better is Indiana at #20.

Also predicted to tie for 1st by Warren Nolan Baseball.

And ,oddly, pitching ERA ranks in top 5. Unfortunately, RU pitchers lead the league in walks and hit batsmen and are among the leaders in wild pitches.

Yeah, RPI killed RU last year.
RU has another strong SP coming in next season and that should giver us 2 of our 3 Weekend starters next year.
Owens has to figure out a bullpen rotation with no clear closer.

Looks like weekend starters are
Coppola
Besser/Marshall
Conover

The frustrating thing is every darn inning, RU seems to walk or HBP the 1st batter.
Conover hit 3 batters

And RU's SOS for games played so far is #39. It's projected to be #103 at the end of the season.

Last years SOS at the end of the season was #150.

So much tougher schedule so far this year.
