Tried to google this but couldnt find it. Can teams with records under .500 still be selected for the CBI tournament. Given the youth on our team and that fan interest is finally back at the RAC, the entry fee would pay for itself. Just love watching this team and would hate the for season to end at the B10 tournament, and looking forward to the post-season for many years to come

As to the unasked question - a letter was sent to RU on Thursday to ask if they would be interested in participating this year.

We are so young that playing as many games as we can will only help.

Would have to think that based on the quality of the opposition in the CBI and the fact that we should be a host for the first round or two, maybe we can make somewhat of a run and let the guys get some semblance of postseason tournament experience.

I think it is just gauging interest at this point. My source is an employee at Gazelle Group, which runs the CBI, not someone at RU.

It wont be Pikiell's decision to make. We are so desperate for $ we are selling beer at college games. No way we have $50K+ potentially to throw away.

If we were to get invited, and Pike wanted us to play, I have little doubt Hobbs would find the money

Posted this the last time this came up:

Penn St went to the CBI in 2014 and Purdue in 2013, fwiw. Both were knocked out in the 2nd round by the eventual champion.

Given the Rev stream from a packed RAC, I don't think this is a money losing venture . Pike and his group deserve to keep playing and it can only get us better for next year

I am a purist. .500 or above I think we reward the team and the senior and go. At a minimum .500 at the end of the regular season or .500 overall. Anything less, no. But we do need some positive mojo for this program, so anything mentioning post season is good. And it gives a very young teams some extra game experience.

We went over a lot of numbers in the last thread on the CBI, and I'd think that breaking even may be our ceiling. I still think that it'd be a positive for the team, though.

We should definitely go if invited. GRF is Mr. Negative on this. We should build on any more games for next season.We should get enough fans at the games to at least break even.

I dont think a sub 500 team should be going to postseason, I bet this team feels the same way. Playing a bunch of lesser programs doesnt really mean anything when you are knocking off NCAA type teams in the Big 10...not worth it

I'm a little bothered by this from a RU perspective of true.

This team needs to play for something legitimate NOW if the opportunity presents itself. Make it part of the build...winning trophies matters to a program that hasn't sniffed any type of postseason since 2006

I say we accept the invite, but then make up the team of 12 board members each willing to pay 1/12th the expense lol.
At least that group has some good names...

What makes us think the team would win that tournament. How do you get up to play those teams? A big let down going from B1G to the CBI.

true dat....I cant believe people are making a case for this. Its a garbage tourney against small and mid majors....every school we play in the Big 10 is better than these teams. If Ru didnt win, its a disappointment, nothing could come out of it...

no one is showing up at the RAC for these games while the NCAA tourney is going on.,
