Rutgers Basketball B1G schedule

It's legit a pure rotation minus 1 team (b/c that's how numbers work). The 1 team that stayed on as a home/home finished 13th last year. Somehow G- RUnit thinks this is the B1G screwing Rutgers because he is a moron and/or troll.

But not true at all. PSU has been our most traditional rival. Suddenly when they are down we don’t play them? Food for thought no?

Absolutely No reason why Minnesota should be at Minnesota. Food for thought no?

Likewise after the MSU fiasco last year and they get a home game and Izzo doesn’t have to go to the RAC, he gets yet another home game this year. B1G should have done the right thing especially since as of now no new contract with MSG has been signed. If you don’t see the unfairness of that I don’t know what to tell you. The effect of this nonsense is that it will be three years where RU will not see MSU at the RAC. Food for thought no?

So it really is not purely rotational and tweaking the schedule just a little adds two games with OSU, drops two games two with PSU, no payback or fairness for MSU and no explanation for Minny away and suddenly our schedule is more difficult or odd than it should have been. Food for thought no?

If you don’t see that I don’t know what to tell you. MSU is the gift that keeps on giving and Izzo is chuckling. I for one am more than a bit skeptical. Hardly makes me a buffoon or a conspiracy theorist. B1G always has RU’s best interests in mind? It’s not like the OSU ref debacle happened against RU? It’s not like RU is the only team that has to give up a home game? It’s not like the B1G ensured RU baseball made the NCAA? It’s not like the B1G ensured RU hoops made the Big Dance. … oh wait… it all happened.

Moron/ Buffoon/Troll?

Are you merely obnoxious or a two year old?

No! He is just calling it like it is.

Who cares? We’re not playing a tough non-conference slate so playing a harder conference slate will get us more opportunities to pick up quality wins and less landmine pressure games. I’m actually quite happy about the schedule.

We've played PSU 2x in 4 of the last 5 years (2019-2020 we only played @PSU).
I'm not sure the issue. And this year we get them at home.

Also, we played 3 of 4 teams picked bottom of the big ten last year x2 (Nebraska, Northwestern, PSU). The other team (Minnesota) we only played at home.

How do you feel about the Earth's roundness or lack thereof?

If you must, how do you feel about Galileo’s theory that the Earth revolves around the Sun?
Or do you just stick your head in the sand because you don’t want to hear it?

That is a proven theory. Your conspiracy theories are nonsense!!

This theory seems to come from Mars. We had about the softest schedule imaginable last year outside of losing one home game, but as discussed, which teams have to do that has historically rotated. It wasn’t the BIg’s fault that the game got reclassified from neutral. That part sucked. But there is no conspiracy. This year it’s our turn to play an anticipated tougher relative schedule. Who knows how good the teams will turn out to be anyway? Nobody expected NW to be good last year. Look what happened. The opponents rotate. There’s nothing more to it.

Softest schedule imaginable? Nobody saw OSU collapsing well after RU played them away.

B1G had RU’s best interests at when we opened the season with the two best teams in the league in Purdue and Indiana. No other B1G had such a gauntlet. Nothing to see here.

It gets better, OSU preseason was ranked 5th or 6th in the B1G. So RU had the most difficult opening three games of the season by far in the B1G. Nothing to see here. Schedule is soft? Please!

We could wax poetic about how fair the OSU game was. I don’t know which was most fair: 1. The clock operator waiting to start the clock.
2. The Refs watching the OSU player step on the line and not calling it.
3 The illegal player catching the ball and hitting the three.
4. The refs refusing to review the play.
5. B1G admitting Refs screwed up and do basically nothing.

Worst officiating I’ve seen in my life since RU v. St. John’s in the Garden. (Big East treated us so well too). Again nothing to see here. Fact that it was Rutgers is mere coincidence. B1G has RU’s best interests at heart.

Let’s discuss MSU at the Garden. Name another school that involuntarily has to give away a home conference game? None! Never! Nothing to see here.

Let’s look at RU v MSU history. RU finally gets the upper hand. Last two times at the RAC, RU destroys MSU by 21 points, 84-63 and 30 points, 67-37. RU held mighty MSU to 37 points at the RAC. Izzo is jumping for joy this game is at MSG. Predictably it’s a dog fight at MSG with MSU pep band, MSU cheerleaders, MSU intros, MSU fans at mid court and MSU winning at the half. Shaking my head nothing to see her. B1G doing this to showcase RU. Love that 12:00 start. What better way to get the most fans possible and let’s announce game after season tix sold. Let’s also not consider that it’s no longer a neutral site game. B1G surely must have went to bat for us. Nothing to see here.

Mag gets hurt. Of course it’s at the Garden not the RAC. Coincidence? Who knows?

After the Garden game within 48 hours we have to play Indiana away. MSU after the Garden game immediately gets a home game. Nothing to see here. Indiana waiting for RU. No special treatment for Indiana. No special treatment for MSU. Crappy treatment for RU? Hard to dispute. Nothing to see here.

In fact in one week RU plays three games in a week away from the RAC. RU has to schlep up to Garden and then two road trips to Indiana and Illinois all within a week. Predictably RU loses two close games. Soft schedule right? B1G has RU best interests at heart. Is it really surprising after this road trip and the Mag injury that RU loses to Nebraska. Legs and confidence had to have been shot. Nothing to see here.

Let’s also look at the month of February. During one stretch of the most crucial month, RU has 6 out of 8 games away from the RAC. Does anybody else in the league have that? Soft schedule? Really? B1G has RU’s best interests at heart. Nothing to see here.

Remember how the B1G went to bat for RU baseball to make the NCAA Tourney? Certainly looks they did had the same campaign for RU hoops. It’s not like the previous year we got the play in game. RU wouldn’t get screwed two years in a row. That impossible right? Best team numbers to ever not make the tourney? That’s crazy talk. Nothing to see here.

Where was the narrative after getting blown out by Michigan at home, when it counted we blew out Michigan in a neutral court in the conference tournament without Mag. Where was the narrative that during PSU’s amazing run, besides Purdue, it’s only loss was to Rutgers. Where was the narrative that RU beat PSU twice? Where was the narrative that RU beat Purdue at Purdue and only lost by 5 in B1G tourney. Keep hearing how we lost to Minnesota but what happened to the whole body of work. Wins against Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, @ Wiscy, Maryland, PSU 2X, Wake, Michigan don’t matter. I for one wonder how hard the B1G went to bat for us. So to speak! Conspiracy theory? Coincidence? Nothing to see here!

Soft schedule? In retrospect that loss after leading Final Four Miami without one of our best players and one still recovering at Miami is certainly looking “softer” and “softer”. Nothing to see here.

Let’s look at this year’s schedule. PSU loses 6 5th year players. PSU loses their coach. So of course this year the B1G decides RU you don’t have to play PSU twice this year especially after RU had perhaps its greatest away comeback win in RU history. RU beat PSU twice in a magical year for PSU. PSU wouldn’t want revenge. RU and PSU wouldn’t generate any interest.

Indiana and Purdue playing twice this Year? Michigan and OSU? Michigan and OSU? Why develop a rivalry which has been an outstanding series between RU and PSU. Nothing to see here. B1G has RU’s best interest at heart. It’s not like OSU will be loaded for bear after OSU missed the tournament or their coach missed the tournament for the first time in half a decade. Nothing to see here.

Let’s take another look at MSU away. You would think after MSU gets a home game against RU and the Garden game he gets RU at home. How is that remotely fair? The last time MSU played at the RAC was Feb 5, 2022. There’s a very real possibility that Izzo after losing to RU by 21 and 30 at the RAC, MSU and Izzo could go over three years without playing at the RAC. Nothing to see here. No favors to Izzo. B1G has RU’s best interests in mind.

Nobody has explained why Minny is away.
Nothing to see here.

OSU for PSU could be a potential four game swing. I am guessing MSU will be among league favorites. We get them only once and not at home. Minny at home would have been nice. We saw what could happen with Minny away. As we saw this year the line between getting in the tournament can be one game. Nothing to see here.

So despite the suggestions of coming from Mars or buffoonery, I am not drinking the B1G koolaide. There certainly is lots to question and I’m not going to agree there’s nothing to see here and it’s purely rotational. Where’s there smoke there’s often fire. B1G wants our TV sets but have never believed they have had our best interests at heart and often go to great lengths to benefit others as noted above. If that makes me a conspiracy theorist so be it….Nothing to see here. Yeah right!

GO RU!

It behooves RU to play as tough a conference schedule as possible for NET and SOS purposes since our non-conference schedule is among the least challenging and least interesting among our Big Ten peers. So stop whining - you seem to want to play the softest schedule possible.

Dude - how can you say that about OSU and ignore that NW being good was a complete surprise. We got Minny and NW twice - 2 of the projected worst teams. We only had to play Purdue once. Give it a rest would you?

NW was a surprise. I am not the one that said schedule last year was incredibly soft. Think schedule broke against us as OSU became worse and PSU and Nebraska improved and we didnt get nearly enough credit for beating PSU twice.

We did have NW twice when they had their best season ever! We didn’t get nearly enough credit for beating PSU and NW on the road.

MSU after last year should really be a home game this year. In what world is that remotely fair?

Purdue at home is the only plus I see.

Looks like you’re happy that this year they decide to substitute OSU for PSU. Which do you think will be more difficult?

You also seem happy of the three projected worst teams, Minny, Northwestern and PSU, we get all of three games. And two are away.

I would have rather our traditional series with PSU and would have liked six games with those three. At least with PSU it would have been five. Why Minny and MSU away? Strange how that happened? That’s not fair commentary because you don’t like it?

You really think B1G treats us that well?
Give it a rest yourself. It’s a message board.
Different opinions can exist.

Yeah right!

GO RU!
I don't have time to read all of this, but WOW that's a lot.

OSU stayed as the double-opponent in back to back seasons. Alright, fine. Other options were Indiana (I imagine you would say that's not fair); Iowa (same, you could say they are our Kryptonite); Michigan State (usually tougher than Ohio State); Northwestern; Penn State; and Minnesota. It fell out as a mid-tier choice IMO.

I do raise my eyebrows about MSU dodging the RAC again. The rest, not so much.

Strange how that happened? That’s not fair commentary because you don’t like it?

You really think B1G treats us that well?
Get it a rest yourself. It’s a message board.
Different opinions can exist.
You obviously misinterpreted - I was trying to say that at this time last year one would’ve assessed our schedule as softest possible. It was an apples to apples comparison debunking your conspiracy theory.

Again the MSU game being away after the MSG shannigans this year is odd. And grossly unfair.
MSU not playing at the RAC for what will be three years is odd.
Choosing this year to rotate OSU for PSU is odd.
Not protecting the RU v PSU rivalry is odd. It’s been a great series.
Nobody has any idea why we are playing Minny away.
Despite the rotation of the schedule the B1G did manage to make the RU schedule more difficult than it should have been.
As we saw this year, every game matters.

In retrospect of Miami and UMass Lowell our schedule was even more difficult than imagined. Wake turned it up too. OSU down, NW up. Probably a wash. PSU V RU always a war. The interpretation that last years schedule was softest possible was the error. Toughest opening stretch and 6 out of 8 away from the RAC in February. That didn’t change.

Is RU/PSU a basketball rival?

I know I'm an outlier and still consider SHU a rival but didn't really think of PSU. Especially since they've generally been bad.
Games have been great and extremely competitive. I enjoy beating PSU in any sport. I consider SHU a rival too. And should still play Princeton.
