Women’s Soccer: A legit top 10 team with a current record of 13-2-2. Have let up 5 goals this year. Before giving up a goal to Minnesota, they were second nationally in goals-against average (0.24), second in shutout percentage (.813) and fourth in save percentage (.930). Dominant D in front of AA-level goalie in Casey Murphy. Colby Ciarrocca (Kurt’s daughter, transfer from Vandy) has provided a nice needed punch up front.
Men’s Soccer: Having a really nice year with a current record of 9-4-1. As a team, Rutgers appears in the top 10 in six national categories including second in the nation in points per game (7.07), total goals (34) and total assists (32). The Scarlet Knights also rank third in scoring offense (2.43) and fourth in assists per game (2.21). Individually, Jason Wright ranks second in total goals (26), third in goals per game (0.86), fifth in total points (27), and seventh in points per game (1.86) and game-winning goals (4) among all Division I players.
Football: Current record of 3-4. Beat Indiana, Kansas, and Norfolk State. Lost to tOSU, Penn State, Michigan State, and Washington State. Lots of off-the-field issues to start the year, but that being said, the only team right now that we’re nowhere in the same stratosphere is Ohio State. The rest of the conference is within reach with some big improvement on both sides of the ball, but they really need to sure up the OL, DBs, etc. Leonte Carroo has played out of this world (when he has played).
Women’s Cross Country: Won the Met Team and Individiual Title (Paige Senatore) for the second straight year. Not many big meets yet this year outside of a 75 mile radius. Senatore’s a pretty decent runner though for this area.
Women’s Field Hockey: 7-9, and winless in the B1G. This is a sport we should be so much better in with the strength of field hockey in NJ.
Men’s Golf: Not much to write about here.
Men’s Cross Country: 3rd place at the Met Championships is the best they’ve done in 6 years, but there’s nothing to write about here.
Women’s Volleyball: Current record of 4-18. Hey, they finally beat a B1G team in Maryland (and then lost to them a couple days later). A long way to go.
