Hello Everyone!
This is your weekly dose of the "Rutgers Five Bullet Blast," a quick list of things that are bouncing around our heads this week.

Before we kick things off this week, we wanted to let you know that the texts are back! One of the most popular features on our site was the texts we would send out when news broke. We would send them out for player commitments, new coaches, and anything of a “breaking” nature. For a limited time, we are opening the texts to both subscribers and non premium subscribers

And now to the Rutgers Five Bullet Blast!

ROUND TABLE QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Rutgers RB coach Nunzio Campanile on grad transfer Jon Hilliman:

“I really just met everybody for the first time. I actually had the opportunity to coach against Jonathan in high school, so I probably have more familiarity [with him] than anybody,” Campanile said this week. "You have a really experienced player, he is a very accomplished player and had a great career at Boston College. He is a very intelligent young man, and I think he is going to do a great job. He has great leadership skills too.”

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joe Grello.
The Rutgers wrestling team has had its struggles this season, but 174-pound freshman Joe Grello has steadily improved. He is not yet been ranked in the top 20, although he has been close in some tough matches against ranked opponents. Grello’s record stands at 13-7 and if his progress can continue, he looks to be in line for a national ranking throughout next season.

STAFF NUGGET:
Rutgers picked up a new assistant coach this week. Noah Joseph joins Chris Ash’s staff, having previously coached the safeties at Indiana. We reached out to Stu Jackson of our Indiana affiliate, The Hoosier, and this is what he had to say about Joseph.

“I thought he did a great job. Once Indiana switched to a 4-2-5 defense, he was a big part in helping the secondary become one of the top 50 pass efficiency defenses in the country. He did a really good job coaching Indiana’s safeties. They have the hybrid safety linebacker position that they call the Husky position. He was in charge of the true safeties, as well as that position as well.

“As a recruiter, he was big in helping them land Marcelino Ball, who by our network’s rankings was a 2 star corner out of high school, but they ended up playing him at safety. He has been huge for them, playing as a freshman. Joseph helped continue the pipeline of Tampa players coming to Indiana. He helped get [3 star] Jonathan Crawford, who has been a big piece of their secondary.”

INSIDE BOBBY'S BRAIN
The early part of this year will truly be a time of change for the Rutgers football program. Spring practice is starting earlier than it ever has at Rutgers, with a beginning date of March 6th. The spring game will take place earlier as well, with kickoff set for April 13th. This spring will also feature the most freshmen enrollees as eight new first-year players will get to run through the grind of spring practice. Add in a handful of new coaches and this truly is a season of change for Rutgers. Spring will also show off the early indications of whether or not Rutgers will make it back to a bowl game in 2018. The schedule sets up favorably, although there are still a lot of questions to be answered. That will begin on March 6th as there really is no more lengthy offseason. A lot of unanswered questions will start to get some kind of clarity over the next couple months.
