Football Rutgers Football sees season tickets number increase ahead of 2024 season

I thought the high was 32k during the final tenure of GS 1.0
I can see us getting to / surpassing that level again if we have a great year

I think the 32K was in either 2014 or 2015 and then it went off the cliff.

So even if 10K students attend every game (which won't happen) there are 20,000 tickets available for single-game purchase. Going to make it very tough to have a real sellout unless the team gets off to a great start or Rutgers just flat out lies again.

So still a long, long way to go to repair the damage the Ash-hole did to this program.

this is a good thing !!!!

He left Rutgers is a pretty deep Ash Hole. Cratered sales by 50%, losing at least about $3,000,000 (probably a good deal more) in lost sales of tickets, food, parking, merchandise, fraudulent earnings, etc.

Fixed it for ya, Shift. 😁

That's a nice 10% jump over 2023, and a more impressive gain since 2017 ....35% (6,000 added to the 17,000 in 2020).

Two posts with good and different information.

Sometimes people forget what less butts in the seats really cost us.

Yeah, it looks bad on TV but feels worse in the wallet.

That math was based on $200/season ticket and 15,000 fewer seats from 2015 to 2020. But the cumulative loss over all those years is worse. The $200 is for the ticket only. The parking, concessions, gear and other spend is more lost opportunity cost to Rutgers athletics. That's why in hiring a coach the old saying you have to spend money to make money applies. It took Rutgers a long time to relearn that lesson after Greg left.

Question. Are there any guests included in that student section? I could see, especially with a good start to the season, 8000 RU students + 2,000 quests (friends, dates)

I also thought we had one of the bigger student sections in the Big Ten, if that the nation?

Can’t remember where I heard that from, but I could’ve sworn it was true

Reactions: Fake Sellout
It's great to see the numbers on the rise, but the numbers also underscore how much damage was done during a certain era. Oh well, gotta keep moving forward.
That ain't an excuse anymore. Good HC's recruit well from Day 1 and can build a winner within a few years. Winning attracts fans.

I've noticed in Section 128 many long time season tix holders are gone. Both the Ash years and also many didn't renew post Covid 2020. I think ticket brokers have jumped in too. Always see different people each game.

Another factor is many of us in my section were the young alumni section in late 90's. I question if younger RU graduates are buying season tix as much but that could just be my perception. With secondary market availability of electronic tix, often below face value, why sit is same spot every game?

Young alumni are not buying season tix becusse
1. They didn’t experience entertaining football events while they have been there

2. The students game day experience has now mostly become frat basements and backyards on Easton Ave
