I wouldn't be so sure that he'll be a 7/8 option.

He and JMike bring some defense to the guard position, but unlike JMike he can score a bit too.

Now we need a 3pt guard/wing and a versatile center.

Derkack led the NEC in scoring and was 7th in rebounding, 3rd in assists (3.9), and 2nd in steals. Stat stuffer.

Tremendous pickup....the comments about shooting are irrelevant....RU has had shooters BUT if the shooters aren't playmakers, those players can't impact winning at this level of competition. Derkack impacts winning and checks a lot of boxes.

RU is adding playmakers with their targets and someone has to play defense, get rebounds and steals. We can clean up the shot selection, which is the #1 indicator of 3PT% makes. Plenty of kids can make threes if left open, but what happens if the supposedly better 3 PT shooter doesn't hit shots in more than half of the B1G or Power 5 games...???......if that "better shooter", can't get a rebound, make a play, pass or defend, that player is useless and will cost us games.....!Defense, rebounding, playmakers rarely have "off days", shooters who don't make plays, hit shots against weak competition and don't make plays against better teams.

Derkack makes plays, which is what we need at all 5 positions on the floor.

Knew who he was, so was paying attn

Gritty kid, winning type

Not the guy you want the ball in his hands to go iso vs big ten athletes. Not a knock down shooter.

On a nationally ranked team he shouldn't be playing more than 15 mins

And his dad is Uber competitive, a little nuts and already created a handle here.
