Rutgers-Maryland Game Thread

The only surprise in this game was the easy way Maryland totally took over the game in the second half with pin point passing and scoring at every position.In contrast Rutgers once again was exposed as a team without shooters who simply couldn't match baskets as Maryland went on scoring runs.

Another season is just about over resulting in another losing record.This record of consecutive losing seasons is now double digits and counting .This futility must stop because the basketball program has no relevance right now.Recovery must start with changing the roster for next season and bringing 2-3 new players who can shoot.Recruiting for 2018 is critical because of the number of players graduating.Pikiell and staff will have to be miracle workers to change the mind set of recruits who year after year have chosen other schools .There is no other way out because the present talent is lacking at every position.

He has playing time to sell. And after a year of waiting, a brand new practice facility. If the staff doesn't kill it in recruiting with the Class of 2018 we are f-----. Plain and simple. Not a decent class, mind you. A killer class, because those guys are going to have to be able to contribute in big way right away with the guys we will be losing.

Give Maryland credit...they played great....Ru played poorly at times because Maryland was at their best...rutgers played a solid first half . Ru played worse vs Iowa...better teams can expose weaker teams

I wasn't just referring to this one game.. what I meant was tough to get up to go see RU play at home when they seem to play their worst there vs. B1G (i.e PSU, Iowa, MD)

Look at the box score. Of all people you are calling out Gettys??

Maybe it was going to be his night, but only 2 points in the second half.
He should have taken 15 shots. The problem is he doesn't get fouled because he can't adjust his shots to prevent blocks. He would be a big advantage if we had some shooters.

I'm calling out the defense. Gettys 1 Foul, Sanders 1 foul (in first minute), Johnson 0 fouls, Freeman 2 fouls. Stick your friggen nose in there.

Only guy with 3 fouls was Mr. Hustle (Williams ) who also had 6 bounds. The other guys mailed in the 2nd half which is why it is so hard to commit to spending 5 hours on a week night going to a game. Tired of being more committed then the team is every damn game.

agree...usually when a new coach comes in a splash is made in the first 2 year, it didnt happen for next years class so it needs to happen with the next 2 classes. Bannon, Waters, Hill and Rice all came through so Pike must do it as well, he only will get a small window of time

Let me add to this point. Much of the improvements that you'd hope to see at the start of a new year is due to the year's worth of playing and experience that the players got the previous year. Well, here we are, virtually at the end of that year, and the team still has problems scoring.

in fairness, this team is better than it was at the start of the year but basically shootwise it is the same as many of us feared it would be and that is consistently poor. Thats why I think there is a ceiling with alot of this team next year...Freeman, Nigel, Mike...we know what we will get, we know we will get nothing from Sa/Diallo/Doorson and probably one of them isnt here, Laurent will probably be gone. We bring in two guards, one who does not shoot. So next year its all on Corey taking a huge leap and this year was not a big improvement and Thiam/Eugene improving dramtically. That is alot to ask for.
