Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Adds Shane Carmody to Staff

Carmody joins the Scarlet Knights staff after spending the past two seasons as a coach at Montclair State. He served as an assistant coach and Director of Recruiting under head coach Mike Schambach, a Rutgers graduate. Carmody also served as the acting head coach from June to October of the past year.

It's a really good sign that we are keeping pace with blue bloods and conference members as it relates to coaching positions filled. The former DoB has been moved to a "volunteer assistant" role.

He didn't play in college. He did play for legendary coach and RU grad Chuck Apel at Bridgewater Raritan.

Actually, Shane played at Bridgewater under Coach Apel. Shane is a very smart kid with a desire to be a coach. He did an excellent job at Montclair State under incredibly difficult circumstances. As well, he had several opportunities to coach in D3 programs as well as good HS programs in NJ and chose to join this staff. It is my understanding that Coach Brecht actually pursued Shane in hopes that he would join the staff. This is a really solid pickup for us and our staff.
