Rutgers offer: Diego Willis 6'2" PG

Awfully early on Mensah, isn't it? Give the kid a chance.

Go Diego, Go! (to Rutgers, that is)

Anyway, if Willis is a 2018, then Mulcahy should really have no issue if he signs here. In 2019, not counting 2019 recruits, our roster will look like this:

PG - Baker, Willis
SG - Mathis, Kiss
WF - Thiam, Harper
PF - Omoruyi, Carter
C - Doucoure, Johnson

Adding Mulcahy to this PG/SG/WF mix should not be a big deal, especially since Thiam will be a senior, and Baker and Kiss will already be juniors in 2019.

Having a hard time envisioning him doing well. He can't shoot. Maybe he will improve but has looked bad so far.

I think if Souf plays good defense and can run the offense effectively enough to give Geo a breather then you're getting what you need from him game day. On the intangibles side, from everything I've read Pike likes his leadership qualities. It's always good to have players in the program who assist the coaches in building up a good culture. Let's see how this plays out before we send him off.

Souf was pulled quickly after fouling their guard as he made the basket. I love Pikiell but he missed with Mensah. You can’t have a guy on the court who can’t shoot and doesn’t do anything else that makes you negate the non shooting.

Diego looks like a complete player and Mulcahy will not care that we are bringing in another pg and scorer. You need 5 guards who can rotate and it’s always good to have ball handlers to break the press and Mulcahy is very versatile. We need another pg for next year with or without sanders.

I love what coach has accomplished so far and in my 20 yrs of being a Rutgers fan, I have never been more excited and hopeful about a coach as with pike. That said, he has had his most struggles recruiting point guards. It seems as if souf was a _________ contingency plan for not getting alvarado, who is playing a lot and looking good for GT. Coach came close to getting him and he won on other big time players like Mathis and Duke, so I can’t knock coach for coming in second, especially how early that was in his tenure when he didn’t have the momentum he has now. But with Corey gone after this year (he is gone) who do we have to fill his minutes? I get that we have Geo to run the point next year but if we can’t get quality minutes from anywhere else, then coach needs to find another pg. If Willis is similar to Geo in his skill set, we’d be happy to have him. What still confuses me is if we needed another pg, why did Mac opt out? There were going to be minutes here for him. I guess there will be more at gtown? And as for mulcahey, nobody should be worried. I see him as a Swiss Army knife in terms of his position on the court. He fits in. He will be able to play 3 positions legitimately.

Great to see you back!!

I would not worry about Mulcahy as he can play PG, SG or a wing at SF. We need players. I saw Mulcahy play in the game I saw Doucoure last winter. I will definitely see him this coming season. I hope to even see him in a early scrimmage game.

the truth is ,i think, he might be trying to hard to prove his worth. heard he's a great teammate , and is good for the locker room. give him at least the whole season before you judge his ability..."in pike we trust"

Diego Willis vs Mac...

Which would be a better fit for our team?
(Especially if Corey is gone)

I hope Souf comes around but i dont see hoe he can. He can't shoot. When he's in teams will back off him and dare him to shoot. We will be playing 4 on 5 offensively.

Where would Corey go? I'm not seeing it.

Probably the NBA G-League (formerly known as the D-League). The NBA even has two spots, a 16 and 17 spot, for two way contracts with players. You look at the Knicks G League roster in Westchester, some pretty good names; Trey Burke, Nigel Hayes, Luke Kornet, Isaiah Hicks,

I don't think we got Souf to score. So far he's struggled a little on the ball vs. small, quick guys. I think he may give us good minutes defensively vs. stronger and not as quick guys in the Big 10.

Agree but your point has to be able to shoot a little. We have a tough enough time scoring as it is. When you start seeing better teams playing off Souf because he can't shoot it will make it that much tougher to score when he is in the game

Agreed - even in his limited amount of playing time, everyone knows Souf isn’t going to shoot. Makes his drive and dish easy to defend. He has to shoot once and awhile just to keep them honest.

At the autograph signing a week ago, I told Souf to shoot more. He said "tell the coach."

He struggled to get the ball up the court against ECU.... that's my bigger concern. That's why he's here.

Or play internationally, it just seems that since he has been looking to leave since his freshman year, I still doubt he is back for his fourth year.

Strictly from a basketball perspective, Corey should stay.
Corey has tested the NBA for the past 2 years. If he tests it again, isn't it true he can't come back to Rutgers? And tell me why he would try the NBA after his first two seasons but then stick around after his (hopefully) best season in his junior year? He seems to want to move on

Just go over and look at some of the abuse I take on the football side - LOL

Correct. He cannot do it three times. If he enters his name next year he's gone.

If he wants to play Internationally, he will need to make that decision in summer which would mean no NBA camp. He would also need to be offerred sunstantially more than G-League 75K plus pro-rated NBA amount if he gets 10 day contact. The bigger money goes to players with NBA on resume. They also want mature guys who show they can handle living overseas.

Diego Willis looks pretty tall. I love tall guards with long arms. He looks to have a quick release, although could be a bit higher in release point.
