Athlon magazine has your offense returning 3 starters including Caroo. Is that accurate?

They have your defense returning 5 starters but that includes Hamilton(injured) and Stephenson(off the team) ?

Is it accurate to say you will field a team Saturday that starts 2 returning starters on offense and 3 on defense?

Not trying to imply anything just trying a handle on what to expect Saturday.

We're calling up all our players from the (penal) farm team at the end of the week.

Last years starters that will play Saturday:

Offense: WR Andre Patton, OG Chris Muller, LT Keith Lumpkin and pretty much all of the RBs are co-starters.

Defense returns: DE Djwany Mera, LB Steve Longa and LB Quentin Gause

All other players who were supposed to return to start are either kicked off the team, suspended or injured.

You guys are favored by 10 points and your offensive line is basically this:

Thanks...Athlon doesn't list Patton as a returning starter nor the RB's. They agree with your defensive list.

I think they listed Peoples as our starting RB. He's clearly the 4th or 5th best back on the team. They didn't do a whole lot of research or they just don't care to research us.

We lost the following starters on O:

Nova QB, Burton FB, Kroft TE, Bujari/Johnson/(edit: ALEXANDER, not Civil, lol...), OL, and all 6 combined for 225+ starts, IIRC.

D? Yeah I think we'll have 3 returning starters on the field Saturday.

Taj Alexander not civil.

On Defense we lost:
Entire starting secondary: Barnwell, Glashen, Stephenson, Waters,
1 LB:Snyder
3 DL (consider these 2 starters since they rotated)
Kirksey/Milewski/Stephenson

LOL I knew I was wrong when typing, couldn't figure it out, but had to run and check something so just rolled with it! Thanks!

There are 7 starters from the bowl game on the field Saturday night

Lumpkins
Patton
Muller
Whoever you consider the running back to be

Mera
Gauze
Longa

However...everyone who is lines up Saturday night returns for 2016 except

Lumpkins
James
Bergen

Mera
Gauze
Lewis

Federico

Literally that is everyone playing who does not return in 2016

We are now playing the same team this year that will be on the field in 2016....

Could James get a Redshirt ?
He missed parts of 2 seasons due to injury.

I can't tell the tone of your post, but I see this as a good thing. Another year of experience and practice, etc for Austin, Wharton, Hester, Hicks, Martin, Snorweah, Rettig/Laviano, Patton, Agudosi, Grant, Turay, JPO, etc. is invaluable. Plus possibly returning Hamilton if he sits this year out (which could be a blessing in disguise if this year turns out to be a 5-7/6-6 type season anyway). With us getting swing games PSU, UM, and Indiana at home next year and the two crossover games getting way easier, next year (despite the hell and distractions of this year) could be something special. Could be. Who the hell knows. But it's nice to look ahead to and be optimistic about next year when this year looks like a 5-6 win maximum, and the likely possibility of being a doormat.

Rutgers Man 22

It is just the fact of the matter...

We were very young and inexperienced coming into this year...and now we are even that much younger and inexperienced.

Realistically...If Kyle goes 6-6 this year...with all the player losses, it would be a really good job and set up for improvement in 2016...especially with the western portion of our conference schedule moderating...and most of team returning.

We really really need to get a W on Saturday...and certainly can if we mentally are in the game

IMHO no doubt we've got a ton of guys back, with more and some experience, which is GREAT, but:

1)Not so sure Michigan is a "swing" game next year. I'm not even sure if they're one this year anymore. Probably not unfortunately.

2) crossover getting "way easier" next year? Uhm, no, can't agree with that one. Basically we're losing Wiscy, Nebraska, and Kansas (OOC), for Minny, Iowa, and Illinois. Obviously Wiscy is a huge "plus," for us, but Minny is a damn good team, essentially on par with Nebraska last year (actually beat them head-to-head) and likely this one, if not better, and Illinois is much better than Kansas. They actually have a pulse this year - granted, lousy competition, but they've outscored them by 96-3 thus far - as opposed to Kansas which is the worst P5 team in the land and one of the worst FCS teams out there.

3) lots of people assuming DH is back next year. If what some are saying, is true, I wouldn't bet on it.
