PISCATAWAY – The anticipation for Rutgers football’s visit to Penn State now can be quantified.

Rutgers announced Wednesday that it has sold out its allotment of 3,000 tickets for the Sept. 19 visit to Beaver Stadium. The tickets were available for $100 apiece.

“We’re pretty excited to turn that one around so quick,” Rutgers chief marketing officer Geoff Brown said. “We’ve got a couple of games going well. Penn State is now gone, Army is going pretty well, and the fans are purchasing tickets for the three other ones as well.

“We’re starting to travel pretty well. It’s pretty exciting that our fans are having some fun on the road with us as well.”

Rutgers sold out of its original allotment of 3,000 last season at Ohio State and received a second, smaller allotment.

I thought we had asked for another 1,000 tickets a while back, in addition to the 3k?

10k does not sound reasonable for a turnout. The 3k allotment would've went much faster if the demand was that high. I think the 8pm game time hurts our overall turnout as it makes driving there and back in the same day impossible (unless you hire a driver/bus), but then you're getting back at like 6 in the morning.

with that said though .. I could see myself making a last minute decision to go and trying to drag out a bunch of friends if the team looks really good in the first few games and my weekend clears up.

Is it too early to start a rumor that RU has 250 buses reserved for the trip out there?

This is true. 250 buses carrying 250 rabid RU fans each -- that's 62,500 RU fans. We'll easily take over that place. [laughing]

Any ideas on where I can find 4-5 tix near our sections at this point? Stubhub doesn't have much. Would it be worth going thru PSU? Though I'd hate to give them my money!

The BIG mandates that schools must provide 3000 tickets for the visiting team. It is up to the home team to provide more. Penn State has no reason to give us more.

I am thinking about 7000-8000 will be singing On the Banks in a Rutgers victory at around 11:45 pm on Saturday Sept 19th. 98000-99000 PSU fans exiting quietly in disbelief....priceless.

That would be something

though, not sure where all this confidence is coming from.

Good heavens, a fan is optimistic about his team on his team's messageboard! Will wonders never cease.

Would have sold faster if it was a day game, even at the higher price. I assume TV controls the time.

They get your money either way. If you buy through Rutgers, Rutgers just gives the money to PSU. If you buy from PSU, you just give them the money directly.

Or you could always go through ebay or stubhub and give the user the money which results not excess funds to PSU.

I went through ebay and got tickets below face, in a better location and supposedly with their version of the Knightcushion.

Buy parking ahead of time for $15 instead of $40. DO not pay extra for Yellow parking pass you might see for sale on ebay ect.. It is just pre paid parking. The deadline for the Rutgers game is Wed., September 9 @ 5 pm. They don't sell out so you can order anytime. Some people try to pass it off as premium parking. The only way to park together is to arrive together. All lots are filled first come. They do not allow holding spaces.

I have 5 extras in our section. Should be good ones based on my points.

though, not sure where all this confidence is coming from.
Coming from the fan base that said they would take over our stadium and outnumber us.
Think we brought close to 6 to OSU. No reason we won't bring more to PSU

Could be wrong but I don't think he was saying the number of fans expected was the sign of confidence but the final outcome of the game.

wow...ok ok, fair enough. wasn't trying to be malicious about it

A 3 pt loss on the back of a blown coverage with a minute left after 5 turnovers throughout the game probably has a lot to do with jt.

Though all that matters is the final score.

I wasn't referring to attendance...I was talking about the confidence of some of the fans' on winning the game. not saying it couldn't happen.....but it seems there's much more confidence than I would expect. but I got chastised, claiming it's simply optimism.

there's no debate last year's game was tight.......could've went either way......not sure what that has to do with this year's game.
