The probability of winning a game at the RAC is much higher than winning at MSG.Why are you discussing this as they are separate items?? What does playing one game at MSG have to do with the NCAA tournament?

And we played Wisconsin there and lost by a point? You don’t think we win that game at the RAC. Oh yeah even Eddie upset Wisconsin at the RAC?You sound like a broken record. You act like this is some sort of disaster. Playing a big time opponent in the world’s most famous arena. It’s also not like the last time they did this it wasnt great environment and great win except for Mag getting hurt of course
the supporting cast is awful and they lost games to Kennesaw State and Princeton. Bad luck maybe but its everything else tooPissing it away seems harsh. Mistakes have been made, but you can't discount the bad luck that played a big role in this. In my opinion, Acuff's setback and Dylan's health have contributed more than a failure to recruit the right pieces or coaching/preparation. Plus we all knew the failure to retain Cliff or find a suitable rim protector meant this team was going to have a ceiling.
games on espn are not regional either...i think the benefit of playing at msg is overstated....people care about winning and what your record is and if you are making the ncaa tourneyI will repeat, small time thinking gets you small time results. You can do both (play MSG and make the NCAAs) and publicity extends beyond the tri state area folks. It's not a regional broadcast.
it's the whining that gets RU nowhere and why we can't advance beyond reality. I've never seen a bigger bunch of crybaby fans that literally spend all day complaining about improvements and upgrades. People are conditioned and used to losing and the minute something different appears, it's a problem, LMAO
None of those things are connected.......you are placing a one game situation in the context of 31 other games, which is illogical on every level. Playing at MSG vs Michigan State on National TV is not the issue.Losing home court advantage is a significant disadvantage and a huge downside. As RU has seen, just one more league loss, OSU, a few years ago for all intents and purposes, knocked us out of the Big Dance.
In the past 2 years, Chris Collins has 2 ncaa tourney appearance and 2 ncaa wins including back to back 22-12 seasons finishing tied for 2nd and tied for 3rd in the Big 10 so if that is bottom tier I will take it and runThis comment shows that you and many others on here, literally don't watch CBB on a consistent basis. Which is fine, not a knock, but literally no idea how business and marketing works.
And I don't care one bit if Pike doesn't like having to play at MSG, if he doesn't like how it got done or whatever.....his job is to recruit and wins games. If he doesn't like that aspect and wants to be Chris Collins and Northwestern playing all his game at a Walsh Arena forever, then RU and it's programs will always be bottom tier.
There's a lot of small time comments and crying about MSG.....if it was UBS on Long Island or Mohegan Sun, sure, go for it with the complaints. There is NO downside to for RU to play on National TV, ever.....as is ZERO downside.
That's what a losing mentality has you thinking and why most of the fanbase is conditioned to losing......I'm not here to change your mind, I'm just telling you, there's WAY more upside than any downside you're peddling on here.....it's almost as if your scared to play on a National stage out of fear we might get exposed??games on espn are not regional either...i think the benefit of playing at msg is overstated....people care about winning and what your record is and if you are making the ncaa tourney
be careful what you wish for as the spotlight will indeed be on Rutgers and their 2 stars and why they are 10-9
No one is arguing that, the 2 items are not connected, stop trying to tie them together. If RU was 13-6, you would have no complaints. In the past 2 years, Chris Collins has 2 ncaa tourney appearance and 2 ncaa wins including back to back 22-12 seasons finishing tied for 2nd and tied for 3rd in the Big 10 so if that is bottom tier I will take it and run
i watch plenty of college hoops and know how it works, if you want attention you win games period on a consistent basis
you brought up Chris Collins for some reason not meNo one is arguing that, the 2 items are not connected, stop trying to tie them together. If RU was 13-6, you would have no complaints.
If we are really being fair all 3 were not good ideas.Scheduling Princeton at Prudential Center and playing Kennesaw State on a Sunday before a Tuesday game in Las Vegas is your argument for this season.
I did some research and yes CBS games get more eyeballs than I thought....I'd think CBS will see 2.3 million viewers. Maybe Round 2 Saturday 1PM game gets 7-8 million viewers. This game tucked on BTN gets 400,000 viewersThat's what a losing mentality has you thinking and why most of the fanbase is conditioned to losing......I'm not here to change your mind, I'm just telling you, there's WAY more upside than any downside you're peddling on here.....it's almost as if your scared to play on a National stage out of fear we might get exposed??
If it happens, so be it....you only improve sometimes by getting embarrassed or exposed, so you can get better.
What is the upside if RU wins?? Do you think people are actually loading up Peacock to watch Ace and Dylan, when they can see them for the 1st time in person at MSG on a Saturday afternoon??
What else does a RU alum in North Jersey or Hudson County etc, have to do on a 30 degree Saturday afternoon, with no NFL or College Football on TV??
I generally agree; the real crime was scheduling Kennesaw State. That game was a losing scenario any way you slice it. Definitely an edge to MSU to play us at Garden. I remember MSU came to RAC a few years ago and we won by like 20. Unlikely to see that at Garden. In any event, the whole season has so far proven a disaster. Harper may not even play on Saturday or best case scenario goes out there hurt or sick once again. Probably going to be bloodbath. Even if Ace scores 40 we still get wrecked. Acuff, Hayes, Martini, JWill, JMike, Derkack, Ogbole are just really out of their league it seems.Recently bias is clouding a lot of people’s judgments.
If we were a top 10 team (or, at a minimum a top 25 team starting to gel like we all thought we would be), this game would be massive proportions type big.
The garden is still the garden, we have two top five pics, media capital of the world against the Hall of Fame coach
I’ll criticize Pike for some other things, especially in regard to scheduling, but this game, especially this year, is one you simply don’t say no to
Syracuse would have been AWFULLike it said in the article, the first choice was Syracuse OOC. Just like we tried to play Arkansas at the Pru. Gotta open up that rolodex a bit more before hitting a conference name though.
The players are on year or 2 years stops nowI’ll tell you that pkayinf in the garden is a huge deal for the players …it was when we played in the BET ….and the BTT in 2017.
We are not losing this game because of not having a home court advantage …there will be FIFTEEN THOUSAND Rutgers fans …making that place loud and the RAC north
Lose at MSG is the same as losing in the RAC
Win this game on CBS in MSG …..is the same for winning at the RAC for the seaoan
Winning the game on CBS in MSG …is much be bigger for the program than a RAC upset
As told to me months ago by someone directly involved in the negotiations - Pike wanted to use Dylan and Ace to showcase RU. He wanted a marquis OOC matchup at MSG or major venue but his asking price was too high and he found no takers. That’s why he wound up settling for a conference game at MSG and the Vegas tournament.
I was careful to write that he wanted to showcase the program. Using Dylan and Ace.he should be doing whats best for the program not 2 one year players
Reading comprehension was missed there. It was stated that Pike was using it as a showcase for the programhe should be doing whats best for the program not 2 one year players
What level of conditioning would be required to have not been injured after his ankle bent 180 degrees landing on someones moving foot?and you know when he had the flu he was not practicing either so really in the past 3 weeks how much practice time, just maybe a week in there he was full strength,,,his conditioning definitely a question mark at this point with all the setbacks
um duh the 3 weeks before with flu and recovering...he looked off the first 15 minutes of the gameWhat level of conditioning would be required to have not been injured after his ankle bent 180 degrees landing on someones moving foot?
Actually it’s the losing and lack of success in any premier sport. RU fans are happy we make it to mediocre bowls year in and year out. The entire fan base was thrilled just to MAKE the NCAA tournament. RESULTS are still GARBAGE. And that is why we are Small time and will always be small time. Football and basketball we are still nobodies, and across the nation other than RU fan base, literally nobody cares we are playing @ MSG.I will repeat, small time thinking gets you small time results. You can do both (play MSG and make the NCAAs) and publicity extends beyond the tri state area folks. It's not a regional broadcast.

Maybe the RU Michigan final 4 game in Philly1976?
As of Wednesday more than 14,000 tickets had been sold, with the vast majority gobbled up by the Scarlet Knights' faithful. Attendance is likely to be north of 16,000 – one of the largest gatherings of Rutgers hoops fans ever.
March 1967: In the NIT semifinals, a sold-out Madison Square Garden doubleheader crowd of 18,499 watched Rutgers fall to Southern Illinois (led by Walt Frazier) and Marquette beat Marshall. Although most of the fans probably were there for Rutgers, it’s impossible to know how many.
Harper did not practice Wednesday after suffering a sprained ankle during Monday’s loss at Penn State. He’s expected to play Saturday barring a setback, although he’ll likely be limited in practice all week.
“Dylan muscled his way through the game, but he obviously wasn’t himself,” Pikiell said.
Center Manny Ogbole, who hurt his knee at Penn State, also did not practice Wednesday and is being evaluated day-to-day.

The fanbase was thrilled we made the tournament because it was 35 years obviously. Fans aren’t happy being mediocre. The lack of success isn’t because the fans are accepting of being mediocre. What a bunch of nonsense.Actually it’s the losing and lack of success in any premier sport. RU fans are happy we make it to mediocre bowls year in and year out. Nailed it. For us it's the Super Bowl. For them, it's Tuesday.“It’s going to be Fourth of July and Christmas for them,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo told reporters Wednesday, “but it’s going to be kind of exciting for us.”
this quote says it all doesnt it
Pretty much.I'm sure there will be a significant # of MSU fans. Yes, it willl be a RU crowd (maybe 4 to 1 [?] and if it's a dogfight neutral hoops fans will pull for RU. I'd guess that at the RAC percentageswould be more like 10 to 1.
A "home court" advantage doesn' only ride on who fans are rooting for. MSG is not our home court. We will have no shooters' advantage.
Whatever chance you think we'd have of winning at the RAC (20%?) is cut in half at MSG.
Hated that.. then I recalled how Rutgers had a Villanova grad as AD (Mulcahy) who had some problems in our lockerroom when we played 'Nova.. I forge the exact events but it was not a good look.. and then hired future HoF coach Jay Wright but let him go to Villanova (his dream school) when they opened up a spot for him rather than let him coach rival Rutgers...
I argued years ago after Seton Hall whined to Governor Murphy that RU needed to keep playing SHU, that we should drop the series, after they cried about losing revenue and didn't want to play the game in 2020 there with no fans......then turned around and wanted the home game in 2021....as if that was RUs fault.
..
Harper and Bailey are at the RAC watching Rutgers women play number one ranked UCLA.UCLA leads in second quarter 45-26Dylan’s health is torpedoing any chance for kind of a miracle run this year. Hopefully he gets healthy and we make the big tourney and something crazy happens.
sorry I am not sure if you are making a point here or if so what it might be.Harper and Bailey are at the RAC watching Rutgers women play number one ranked UCLA.UCLA leads in second quarter 45-26
His point….they like to watch teams lose clearlysorry I am not sure if you are making a point here or if so what it might be.
Exactly. 😂OMG, no one cares about Nova anymore....maybe at Wells Fargo but the Pavilion?? The Pavilion is for small time opponents....
