Rutgers Spends The Most in Big Ten

Anyone that wanted to blame the win loss/record or attendance on "lack of support" from central athletics need to dial that back a notch.

true, Rutgers has gone from little support ,before Hobbs , to good support in the Hobbs era.
Facility upgrades and support has been much better for WBB & MBB, since Hobbs became AD, which should help when offering a salary package to candidates for the RU WBB HC position

Did you even read the article? In 2014 she was paid $1.6 mil. and in 2015, $1.15 mil. she's been well funded her entire career here. Hobbs didn't show up till Nov. 29th, 2015. Not seeing how you pay your coach over a million a year and say there's little support. If you say facilities held her back, then why did her teams get worse after the practice facility was built?

Vivian has been well paid since she arrived, that is unquestionable. One of the top 10 highest paid coaches probably all but a few years.

It is true that in her earlier years, there wasn't a lot of support, we were active fans and the lack of advertising, promotion and other support was apparent, but this was a long time ago. To be fair, some of her complaints were on behalf of both the men and women's team, in those days, for example the old scoreboard that she didn't think was worthy of a state school. Hobbs arrival has also signaled increased facility support across the board from what I have read.

I have argued and will continue to argue that there was a period where teams were worse after the disappointment of the fab five class that was due to a number of factors of which facilities was one - and a strong one. Other factors included her age, appeal of her style of play, the lack of depth on some teams, etc. The better facilities improved things, I am so tired of hearing how bad the teams were over the last few years absent this one. They were not up to her previous "standards" and maybe not up to Rutgers fan's (arguably unrealistic) "standards", but they were not "bad". I suppose you could argue that the return on investment wasn't as good as desired.

Finally, to the article - for years, a former poster Beknighted tried to point out that attendance and revenue was not a significant factor in offsetting salaries and expenses. The detail numbers in this article certainly prove the point, especially since they go back to when RU was drawing decent crowds.

yes I read the article, Vivian has been well paid from the time she was hired to retired.
I was talking about overall support for WBB and added MBB because, except for Stringer's salary, both basketball programs were run on the cheap.
CVS being a name brand overcame the lack of support, but the RU MBB program suffered and just for overcoming the RU AD's not investing in the basketball programs like they should have ( before Hobbs changed that) , Vivian earned her salary .
Her teams got worse ? ( compared to the glory years , you have a point)

So wait.....3 of the last 4 years in the B1G the team finished 3rd, 5th(tied) and 3rd and multiple people have posted that she ran the program into the ground and next coach has a major rebuild to do?

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Am I reading the chart correctly?
One NCAA tournie win in the last 10 years?...the 2014-2015 season shows NCAA second round

complain about that and you'll be right.
But that's not running the program into the ground, it's not meeting the expectations that were set 15 years ago maybe even earlier .
What happened : Rutgers stopped being a top level program that went far into the tourney and became a fairly good program that usually was close to being a tourney team and when it made the tourney just didn't produce and left quickly.
But this BS of the program being a disaster is just that" BS " made by those that wanted CVS gone for a long time and willing to misinform about the type of program Stringer had.

Shame is : all that was needed to have a valid complaint was to point out what you did and demand better results instead of implying the program was a loser and making like Vivian's teams were having losing seasons instead of saying the team needs to play further in the NCAAs instead of just getting an invite .

So B1G finishes:
4
9
11
9
3
5
3
13

thats just screams MEDIOCRE with an average finish of 7th…and a very highly paid coach…

See @West Point Knight before this post. Not what one would expect under Cviv. Kinda "meh" overall lately. As far as running into the ground, her absence this past year has harmed the program. Add to that her 5 star transfers out of the program last year. Now that she has finally decided to retire, Hobbs is left holding his nut sack and many of the good candidates are already taken/locked up. Add to that the number of RU players in the portal. This does not bode well.
