So we started doing predictions for wrestling for the dual season around January during B1G season, and now I want to start doing predictions for lax, starting with the Stony Brook game. I think the weather will be a factor in this one, provided it isn't bad enough to postpone the game to Saturday afternoon or anything. We have a much stronger defense than last year, and in bad weather should be a ton of ground balls and turnover/steal opportunities. We are grinding out games unlike last year, and because of that and because it is at home, I think we dish a little revenge on SB and improve to 6-0 on the season.

Stony Brook 11

Rutgers lax could be playing the US National team and I would predict a win. Straight up homer and proud of it.
The biggest difference between last year and this year is our grittiness on defense. I love our new philosophy of nonstop pressure on the ball...leading to many turnovers and ground balls. On what should be a wet, soggy evening, it will suit us well. Francisco emerging as our faceoff guy is a big help as well. A win here and we start 6-0 for the first time in 14 years.

I know that was a focus with our new defensive coordinator, which fits very well into our overall scheme of running. There is no better time or situation that is better for fast break offense than picking up loose balls in our own end. Aggressive defense is the next level in creating that. High risk high reward. Love it, especially when you have the athletes that we do.

Coach Brecht refers to it as full field offense. I like that philosophy. A lot. So do players. So appealing to kids.

I really liked speaking with the new DC. His attitude seemed to have immediately changed the attitude of the Rutgers defense. I absolutely love it.

We run a similar style of offense to Rutgers (great convos with the RU OC have helped us) and our kids love running the up temp push it style.

I have not watched Stoney Brook play this year, and I know they are a solid program, but they seem inconsistent. Their Win over brown is tremendous but none of their other wins seem too impressive. But again I have not watched them play so I have zero information besides laxpower ratings.

So Lax Vegas Lines Twitter has RU favored by 2.5 over SB. Their lines have been accurate so far so my prediction of RU winning 14-11 sounds plausible.

Hate the choice of colors Stony Brook uses.

For a group known as the Seawolves they should have more of a green/blue/gray look and less/no red.

Biggest difference from a recent article in the mindset of the program from 5-10 to 11-5 ... And with the slight of missing out last year ... A pissed off hungry team ... Last year was a 15-6 loss, this year s 17-4 win vs SB ... Great chance for final 4, possibly more ...

No one saw this coming. The boys balled out all over the field. A complete game at every level. Magnificent display of modern lacrosse.

I think the guys in the locker room (and I'm sure the coaches were hoping) did...

There was intent and purpose with what on yesterday.

Like the line on the poster for Commando...

(and btw, can we Photoshop the above by changing the gun to a pole or stick and the body to a RU Lacrosse player)

I said this last year after hearing how everybody felt on not being picked for the NCAAs so I am not surprised. But I AM surprised how this is being done without the guys who got hurt before the season started.
