I came here to see the results of the women's game today and didn't even find a thread on the game. Scarlet.knights.com also came up empty. So I went looking for a website that actually had women's bball scores.

The Knights won and CVS has 1001, so no hangover from Tuesday night.

That transfer from Texas Tech, Guillante, looks like an excellent shooter. Nice addition, and only a soph.

Women's Basketball Extends Record to 4-0 with Strong Win over Albany

Rutgers basketball (4-0) picked up its fourth-straight home victory with a 65-39 win over Albany (1-3) on Sunday afternoon at the RAC. The Scarlet Knights gave head coach C. Vivian Stringer 1,001st victory, after helping her reach the history millennium milestone in their last outing.

I didn’t think we looked that good. Pelc had an off night with the three ball - tossed up at least 2 and I think 3 air balls, banked in one desperation 3 from really long to just beat shot clock. Thought they should have been able to pound the ball more, Harris picked up a bunch of fouls 1st quarter and the play much. Hope we get at least two of our other guards back soon. With just Pelc and Wilson as true guards makes things rough when we sub them out.

Noga's 3 point shooting has been less than advertised but she did play a very steady game 5 : 1 assists to turnovers and 4 /5 on the mid range jumpers and was diving for a lot of the loose balls. Agree the team is very vulnerable without a full complement of guards.

I agree that the team had an off night. One of the signs of a a good team is having an off night and still winning by 26.

Another sign of a good team is winning by 26 even when 2 of the refs purposely were not calling fouls against the other team as well as calling ticky tack calls on your team.

I am concerned that if home games are going to be called the way they were last night, that the team will struggle mightily. I am pretty sure that the review of the officials handed in by the staff will not be complimentary.

Watched tape of game late last night. As expected we won easily, but this was Albany we played. Thought the team played a lot of 1:1. Hard to judge the team in general when so many guards are still out for one reason or another. This tournament coming up will be a real test albeit very early in the season. Depending on our hopeful win against Drake the big girls of Notre Dame, S. Carolina loom large. Glad there are a few days now to practice together and fine tune a bunch of things.

Was Pelc recruited as a PG? I wonder if given the unexpected demands of not only being a freshman, but potentially forced into a role she is not as comfortable with, are affecting her shooting. I agree the steady 5:1 A:TO ratio, even against Albany, is encouraging.

According to CVS, neither Pelc nor Wilson are point guards. She said Noga has never had to play pg before. They are both shooting guards. Coach Eatman said all of the injured players are expected to be able to play right after the LSU game in December. Personally I think the team is playing pretty well without all of the injured players. I believe CVS intended to start KK and Calhoun prior to their injuries and I believe Cryor would have been KK's first back-up. Don't forget Albany has gone to the NCAA tournament 6 of the last 7 seasons and the 7th, last season, they went to the WNIT. Also, the Drake game won't be a gimme. They are currently rated as the top mid-major by ESPN and have five players who have scored 1,000 points in their college career currently on their roster.

Agree that KK and Calhoun were our likely starters at the 1 and 2 before the season began, and Wilson and Noga (in particular, given these are her first 4 NCAA games) have done an admirable job filling in--they have combined for 30 assists to just 12 turnovers in the first 4 games alone.

The competition is about to become MUCH steeper (there is a good chance the team loses to Drake, IMO) but in the long run, getting Wilson and Noga this much time early on should greatly strengthen our guard depth moving forward.

I also am bracing myself for a possible loss. Thinking of Drake as a mid major is a trap. They are team of seasoned, well balanced tall girls that shoot and make a lot of threes. They don't seem to have a dominant player to stop. They defeated a decent Nebraska team on the road this year, something we couldn't handle at home last year.
My main reason for concern is the injuries and our lack of depth and the quickness we will be missing to defend.
However, I remain hopeful coach will come up with a plan and the ladies can execute it. I still would consider it an upset if we win.

FWIW, Nebraska doesn't look that good this year - they lost not just to Drake but to Washington State, which is 1-3, with all of the losses against pretty bad competition.
