Rutgers Women's Basketball Signs Jillian Huerter

Wonderful that she is signing right away. Hopefully, other top recruits will begin to see what she sees in RU. Sounds like she envisions the same potential I do for this program as a "jewel" (I didn't say, "THE" Jewel lol) here in the Northeast sooner than later. Most of the infrastructure's in place, including an experienced staff.

When the RAC reno is done, we should be Rockin n Rollin!!

Just gotta believe.

Also, my question in an earlier thread regarding Jillian was not a rhetorical one. If anybody knows, is it possible that she might be able to join the team this year by enrolling early?

Would have to think, this would not be a bad season for a player to do so for our program. She would get playing time as soon as she could be ready for it. She would be getting the jump (in regard to learning the system/plays) on any recruits or transfers that join the roster for next season.

...joining the team early....
My understanding, is that feature of a "free" 5th year from the COVID regulations expired.
Thus, if Jillian would enroll and play in January, that would count against her 1 of 4 years of eligibility.

Last year was a unique time for high schoolers to make use of that benefit
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. Forgot about that.

Seeing one of S.Carolina's 2023 recruits (Chloe Kitts) decide to join that squad early by enrolling in Jan., I was thinking that some recruits may still be weighing the benefits of staying at the HS level or getting an early start on the collegiate level with better comp and the ability to get ahead academically and team system-wise. Also strength and conditioning-wise.

She'd likely put herself ahead of all Dawn's other '23 recruits in terms of her playing time at the start of next season.

Looking ahead for us, we aren't ready to reload like S. Car., but who knows the number of transfer portal imports next offseason along with everyone currently here, except Abby, being in her final year.

An early start helps solidify her as major part of things next year. Maybe she redshirts and just practices and travels with the team so she keeps 4 yrs of eligibility.

Also, if she picks it up quickly, which I have a feeling she would, she'd have somewhere around 15 B1G games or more to play this season.
