Rutgers Women's Soccer vs. No. 14 Georgetown

Very poor d. 2 goals in 90 seconds. Something is not right with this team.

Georgetown with players from at least 15 states versus PDA. Result is not too surprising. When will Mike actually start recruiting?

With this loss today, Rutgers is now 6-7-4 since starting out 9-0 last season, and has only scored 23 goals in those 17 games, and 7 of those came against an awful FDU team this year (so really, we’ve scored 16 goals in 16 games).

This program has taken a serious step back since making the Final Four two years ago.

We have some players not playing hard right now. Some of them are multi year starters.
Replace them with someone willing to work hard for 90 minutes.
Also, we need to find an answer at center back.

Team needs a serious kick in the ass.

Beaten to the vast majority of loose balls & lost the majority of 1v1 battles. Once again execution was poor. Too many sloppy passes. Many of the girls looked like they were playing in mud.
We have some glaring weaknesses as well, one being on the right wing. Weak in the middle. Can't connect on a free kick. Agree on the work part. Start Ashley Barron on the wing at least.
Georgetown was the better team & deserved to win.

We have not typically been a "fast" team under MON, however, this year we look exceptionally slow. Not good.

Team looks very slow and unmotivated. Not sure if some people are just going through the motions at this point but something needs to change.

Exactly this is a continuation of their awful playing as you said after the 9-0 start and it’s not going to get any better because it is basically the same players as last year the new ones are not adding much this is on O’ Neil and staff

Where was Kassidy?

Be careful what you say...I got lambasted last week for something I said (which ended up in the news a couple of days later)...but I sure as hell won't argue this point. Spot-on IMHO.

I'll say this much: Sammi's injury, even though she got 35-minutes today, is obviously hurting the team. She is probably one of, if not the quickest/fastest out there, along with a non-stop motor that typically seems to fuel the others on the pitch.

My daughter is in the thick of recruiting. She has major interest/offers from SEC, ACC, B1G programs etc including an offer from Georgetown. Rutgers hasn’t once even reached out to her. Not even an email.

Gonna be tough to make tournament without scoring goals. Really sad to see the program continue to take steps backwards

As I said before we barely scored the second half of last season and she was 100% healthy

Does she play for PDA?

Team morale was very low coming in to Gtown. Just beat by non scholarship school Princeton then the ladies were not allowed to attend the big football game Sunday. Like 15k students attended. 53K overall. Coaches may not be reading the room with this group. At Penn State the women's soccer coach and some players posting at football game vs WVU the NIGHT before a game. This season is a concern of course but it's very early. After last G-town loss 2 years ago, RU went to final four. Of more worry is if morale stays low and record tanks, Kroeger, Lowrey, Fluchel, Brocious, Misal and even Romano could all become top 50 us recruits in the transfer portal. They could all be ACC/SEC Top 25 program types with full scholarship as grad/5th year players. Similar to Vicari coming here.

Only 2 wins(FDU & HOLY CROSS) of the last 10 starts is just brutal for morale and is a poor record IMO.

I understand your concerns regarding transfers. However, the players listed are a significant portion of this underperforming team. If they continue to play like this, does it really matter if they leave?

No one should be surprised by this. Your daughter is much better off.

Again, one of Mike's biggest knocks is that he's a lazy recruiter. Case in point once again. I love Hobbs but he should have done some due diligence before he extended his contract.

Many head coaches are lazy recruiters. I am seeing this first hand, BUT they need assistants who aren’t. I had kids playing both ECNL and GA these last few years. Rutgers is at everything. I have never been to a showcase where their staff isn’t present. Problem is when push comes to shove they go all in on PDA kids. I know more than a few girls in last few classes that couldn’t even make the top club teams. And when they went ti PDA they simply sat and watched during the bigger games

They certainly are present, you're correct on that. At the end of the day, it starts at the top. They take the path of least resistance to fill each class instead of battling for the top talent in this state. It's been like this for years. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Just something we might want to consider before moving on to more character assassination.

Damage was done in 2022 for sure recruiting wise that’s manifesting itself today. Meg Ryan our top recruiter left to coach Maryland. Then the 2022 class was the weakest they had in a long time.

For now moving forward in 2024 we have one lady from Portland ore( attacking mid on the u17 wnt) and two ladies from the Michigan hawks. Of the three remaining girls one is from PDA south and two from Zarephat.
For those announced in 2025 we have a goalie from California, another girl from Portland and a girl from North Carolina.

So it looks like you can take 6 more in the 2025 class but for now the 2024/2025 classes have 6 out of state and 4 from PDA ( one of which is a goalie)

Just saying

That’s criminal.

Yes. Some of those ladies may have looked uninspired but they may not have been happy. Maybe if they had just celebrated with their classmates on the northwestern stomping, there would be a better vibe? IDK. They are proven commodities, however. They could command great Top25 offers.

Right now from freshman to those who played in the final four. It does not appear to be fun, period. The days of “no cookies”, “no ice cream”, “no football games” and “just be happy with your scholarship” are over. UCLA proved that. Recruits know everything about culture. Even at places with older staffs like Penn State and Georgetown, coaches are adapting as we speak. It’s changing fast and RU on field performance over last 10 games along with classes of 2022, 2023 & 2024 reflect that RU may be a bit behind the curve right now.
