I was quite upset earlier in the week at some of the comments about women's basketball (and other teams) performance over the last 10 years and in the B1G and I took a look:

There are 11 "team" sports - Basketball (m/w), Lacrosse (m/w), Soccer (m/w), Baseball / Softball, Football, Women's Volleyball and Field Hockey.

- For the 10 seasons ending with the 2016 - 2017 school year only 3 of the 11 programs had a winning record (Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball, Football)

- In the same 10 season only 3 sports have made the NCAA tournament - Women's Soccer (8), Women's Basketball (6) and Men's Soccer (2). Football did make 6 Bowl Appearances.

- Since Rutgers has joined the B1G, including games this year to date (yesterday, actually) only Women's Soccer, Men's Lacrosse and Women's Basketball have had winning records.

- Since Rutgers has joined the B1G, also incuding year to date, only Women's Soccer has had a winning record in the B1G conference. In fact, only 6 teams have had winning B1G conference seasons - Women's Soccer with 4 of the 6.

This truly is sad.

As a proud Alum - when will this change?

You forgot to include the team with the best record and since Scott Goodale came 11 or 12 years ago has never had a losing record— RU Wrestling

I didn't include any of the "individual" sports, I am aware that Wrestling has been a great success; I also know we have had some success in Track and Field, the rest of the sports I really don't know. The base information for the post is from the NCAA web-site that only tracks sports where you score - goals, runs, TD's, etc.

its tough to be a RU fan. I was 20 and a junior at RU when RU mens hoops last made the tourney...thats simply absurd

How about Illinois with a full share. Women's bb finished last and football team did not win a Big Ten game. Men are near the bottom. Yes I think their men will be good. But the point is they get a full share of the money, we do not. And Bac I took a bus to Hartford in 1983 and saw our last NCAA win. 1983!!!

That is another stupid ruling by the NCAA, a corrupt an inept entity.
If you were replying to me - I got the data from a section of the NCAA web-site that tracks win / loss records. In sports like Wrestling, Gymnastics, Track and others - it isn't just win / lose. You can come in 2nd at a meet / match. This particular web site tracks win / loss records as I say, both for coaches and schools. It also does ice hockey, beach volleyball and a couple others. All, as I say, sports where each game has 1 winner and 1 loser.

No rulings involved. The particular web-page is very useful for career records of coaches, there are also assorted player records. Big data-base.

lol..... started Hardenburg Hall fall of 1977....40 years of this. At least I can say I was OTB during the "Golden Years" of RU sports. NOW? (or should I say last 25 years) =

#DEPRESSING :joy:

If Jon Stewart can stick with the Knicks, I can stick with Rutgers

I would say that things have started to FINALLY look upward for a few other programs and that it’s a direct result of joining the B1G. Women’s Lax, Field Hockey, come to mind right away, maybe softball is starting to show signs (5-8 start including a 2-0 loss to Texas a perennial NCAA squad). Bottom line is IMHO things start to explode, on the Olympic sport side, with the new facilities THEN influx of B1G $$$ in a few years.

We were way, way, way behind the 7-ball thanks to not joining the BE when we should have. Set us back 2 decades as an athletic department.

To continue while getting either football or men’s hoops going would be huge it would also benefit all programs to maintain stability in the rankings in Women’s Soccer, Men’s Lax, and get back there soon in women’s hoops. Another soccer Final 4 and/or a Final 4 National tittle run in Lax would be hugecas well.

Also, I disagree about wrestling, I consider that a team sport but regardless a national title by Suriano this year, and maybe one or two additional All-Americans, would be a gigantic boost to a program that has taken huge strides over the last decade.

Again iIlinois was last in football and women's bb. And the men not much better. Spanky what?

And I was playing in the Pep Band when we beat SW Louisiana, but lost to St. John's because Hinson had a groin injury and couldn't jump.

Coaches have come and gone in a lot of the sports (particularly football and men's hoops) but the one constant is inept administration
I couldn't agree more. I'm hoping the new administration finally gets it now that we've been in the B1G for several years.
