Sagarin Rating

And presumably worse about our chances on the road against Nebraska...PSU is no gimmie at all and Illinois on the road will be tough. No breathers in the B1G.
I think we match up well with NU, and our defense is locked in right now. I like our chances against PSU. It's Illinois that makes me uneasy.

Gotta hold serve at home, and if we lose one we gotta steal one on the road to make up for it.

We catch a little break with our “almost home” away game vs Michigan at MSG.

We are pretty close to SHU now in Segarin. After their loss to us SHU is only # 40.We must take Lafayette seriously. I always worry about the games around the holidays. We don't need any Stony Brook or Hartford replays. We also just barely beat Boston U. and Columbia had to go into overtime.

like the rpi, the ncaa doesnt just go by rankings, other factors come into play but its a guideline....the net nitty gritty of Q1 and Q2 records is very important as is SOS OOC and in league. Usually you have to have at least one quality non conference win...RU has that as long as SHU doesnt collapse, if they do, a win over a middling SHU who is missing the ncaa tourney means zero.

If RU is in the top 60 range they have a shot but if they dont have any Q1 wins its not going to happen

i will wait until the first official net rankings come out tomorrow, I know there are unofficial net rankings out now. RU is lagging right now at 101 but its rpi is 62. St Bonnies is a Q 3 loss so they will have to have a good year to get into the top 100 where it becomes a Q2 loss

Update - As of today's RPI - RU is currently #64 and has:

2 - Quad 1 Losses - Mich St. & Pitt
2 - Quad 2 Wins - SFA, Wisky
1 - Quad 2 Loss - Bonnies (Quad 2 if considered Neutral Site game - if not then Quad 3)
5 - Quad 3 & 4 Wins - note that Seton Hall RPI is currently 96

Bonnies is a neutral site game.

(#115) St. Bonaventure and (#68) Pitt both in our (through December 15) Sagarin ratings rear view mirror. Winning our share of winnable road games is our next hurdle. Defense travels well. Making 3’s and free throws is the issue.

I recall beating SHU 81-49 and how everyone thought "we had passed them by" and I warned on these boards we could easily lose the return game in a month and of course we did.

Progress is never linear and never infinite.

By the way, Tim Miles seems to be all in for Coach Pike and Coach Schiano. Said something like Coach Schiano is putting Rutgers magnets on cars as we speak on but he Big Ten Network.
Got to be honest. I always liked Tim Miles. Good guy. Hope to see him back in coaching
