Same old Greg

If you don’t have the talent, all the coaching in the world won’t matter. Did you watch yesterday’s game? We were again overmatched at the LOS on both sides of the ball, and MSU had a RB and WR better than anyone on our D outside of O3. That said it was a one score game at H vs. a now top 10 team. Was MSU ripe for the picking, yes. Do we have the talent to go toe to toe if they’re not committing 7 TOs, obviously not.

we have the talent to pull an upset over a top Big Ten. Yes. I just don’t think we have the coaching too. Hope he proves me wrong!

We beat the 3 average to below average teams early and lost to 3 superior ranked teams. Now we get 1 superior team and 5 average to below average teams we should handle. That will determine where this team falls on the rating scale!

Is he a better game manager than his previous iteration? Absolutely not.
Has he taken the blinders off and looked at the anemic offense and made needed changes? Absolutely not. And don’t blame this last game on the absence of Melton. Pacheco has done nothing. Vedral is nothing more than a mediocre game manager. What is the downside of making changes? The ship has sunk!
Same old Greg?.I am Positively counting on it.
Works for me.

Lol ..no we don't. We have the talent to beat Syracuse.
This. And it was with Sutton and O’Neal on the OL along with the Melton brothers. Losing those guys make a difference. That doesn’t mean we can’t beat NW but if it’s without these guys we are not as good as we were then.

I don’t think it was wrong. Talent is there.
If talent wasn’t there we wouldn’t have given our team a shot

Speaking personally, I gave our team a shot because 1. last year 2. I thought MSU was over-ranked based more on other teams getting knocked out than on their resume. I still don't think they're a top 10 team, but they proved a few steps above us.

we have the talent to upset teams. We all Thought MSU was it.
We didn’t have the talent Saturday man. It wasn’t coaching - we were missing several of our best players. Do you really think the Cuse game goes the same way without O’Neal, Sutton, Max, Bo, Cruix (big chunk of game), Izien (half of game)? Injuries are part of the game - we can adapt to missing a few of them (Sutton and Max) but when you throw in the others too it catches up. Let’s just hope O’Neal can return next week.

How the literal hell are we supposed to build this supposed depth is my question? Everyone talks about depth but if the younger players aren't getting legitimate game experience, it ain't depth IMO. The injuries are forcing us to start dipping into the younger players which is a start.

Everyone still needs to realize we just played 3 straight 2021 elite teams. We are not ready for that just one full season away from being almost UConn level.
And we could have won 1 of those 3. I expect us to still get at least 5 wins. Good possibility of 6 and a bowl.
our weakness right now has me worried, and that isn’t QB…it is the OL( I don’t say this often but no one has impressed me this year. This group is about even with the 2010 group so far. Hope to see them improve) and the DL…except for 2nd half Michigan, very disappointing so far. And this past Saturday, not having either Melton very well could have changed the game. We had 2 huge drops and one of them may have been Noah’s best throw at RU. And our DB’s were exposed big time last 2 games.
Still think we are at least as good as 3 more teams on the schedule and could win 3-4 games to finish up.
You include Michigan state as an elite team, when they were not so as recently as last year
They did it, we did not........ I don't ever approve of forcing players off a team but he got that result that all fans want, top ten recognition

As a Rutgers graduate, I have been a Rutgers sports fan since the late 1950’s. Your troll post doesn’t cut it. The reality is that the team is not anywhere competitive…..a bowl game this year is not what we should be looking toward, but rather giving the younger players on field time to develop.
Ummmm getting a Bowl game means an extra month of practice and a post season game for all players. That’s means adding more time to develop for all younger players.

Schiano outcoached Mel yesterday. He was the reason out kicker missed a FG. Very clever timeouts. Schiano , I believe could have had the UM job, glad he didnt go there.

He needs to use the portal as Mel has to upgrade talent. Speed in the defensive backfield is lacking for one obvious issue.

His winning percentage in under 500, so you get what you get.

And that’s where your premise falls off completely. College football is not any given Saturday like the NFL. There are huge talent differences over 130 teams.

Exactly. In the pros, the talent delta between the best teams and the worst teams are razor thin. In college and even HS, the delta is massive.

You guys play in arguably the toughest or at least 2nd toughest division in all of college football. watching your games I have seen a massive improvement the last couple of years since Greg came back. While you may not be winning against the top half of the division I think at this point you should be looking at how you perform in OOC games, against the West teams, and against the lower half east teams.

i honestly can see you guys winning at least 4 possibly 5 more games this year. I would think you would see a 7-5 or 8-4 record as a good achievement and stepping stone in the building process coming from where you were a few years ago and what division you play in.

Are you promoting a narrative that tells one part of the story, so it fits your agenda? The first few years under Schiano were a total rebuild. Once he reached a leveled playing field, the program took off. Schiano had some like a .667 winning percentage when allowed him to close out with a .500 record. No other coach would have been able to achieve what he did under the same circumstance. Schiano is going through a similar situation again due to the incompetence of the Rutgers administration. Either your blind or refuse to see, Schiano has this team playing much better than it should. Consider the difference in talent they face most weeks.

I agree- and prefer how Greg is doing it. It may take an extra year or two but these kids are human. But yeah- MSU brought in something like 18 transfers and forced a lot of kids out. This is not last year's team

Yep- not only the extra practice but it 1) pumps up our players like nothing else could 2) gets us real respect with recruits and handlers. Will open up more NIL opps as well

That is such a ignorant statement anymore. Anyone that uses the .500 either has an agenda or lacks a clue.

The program he came into was more FCS than FBS, in my opinion, so he had a monumental task in building Rutgers football. I remember Jay Butler saying something like the S&C was below even Ivy League standards.

How did App State beat Michigan in 07? How did Stanford beat USC in 07?

Both games had tremendous talent gaps…yet the worst teams won.

every single Saturday..both teams start 0-0, both teams have 11 players on the field, and both teams play 60 minutes.

RU has had many an upset under GS and beat plenty of teams that were more talented on paper, starting with the 3 wins last year.

Outside of our division few teams play 3 top 10 teams 3 weeks in a row.

Thanks. YOU HAVE ALWAYS been a SUPER player on DEFENSE.

This is an issue of a lack of Big 10 quality talent across the OL and at QB who are playing right now. You simply can't win consistently with those deficits. QB is the one position where a single player can make a difference and while we've had some great individual game performances by QBs (eg, Mike Teel's two off the charts games in his senior year come to mind, though there are others), the fact is that in the entire history of the program we have had a total of three QBs who had multiple offers from teams that at the time were perennial top 10, top 15 powers. Two of those QBs left the program and one just turned 18. Until we improve our QB recruiting (we need two potential Big 10 quality starters a year instead of a single scholly QB a year), we will not move up in Big 10 status.

Very few teams can win consistently in a conference like ours without top tier recruiting year after year - Iowa is an amazing exception - kudos to their players and staff.

Find a way to a bowl, improve the OL and watch GW have a big RS Fr year...and we see our QB recruiting go to a different level
