I was a little suprised he sat so much in the second half. He was lethal with the ball to the hoop tonight. Really thought this could have been the game he took over.

He had a few awful trips in a row but he and Nigel were the only guys on the floor tonight capable of making a field goal and think the game got away from us for good when he went out.

He was very aggressive throughout and got to the rack. Would like to see more Sanders, Nigel, and Williams on the floor together in certain situations. Tonight wasn't the night the way they were getting pounded on the boards.

Corey for some reason this year has lost the ball a lot. His ball handling was great last year but not this year. He has to cut down the mindless unforced turnovers and dribble handoff to the other team. He is great going to the rack, although out of control 2 times tonight.
More importantly , he has to reacquire his shot and in particular his 3 point shoot. We need another weapon from 3 and with his fakes he can get open looks. It hit it more consistently last year and has lost his confidence to the point that he isn't even trying to launch it now. He has to start hitting it again because they will come up on him even tighter making it easy for him to get to the hole or dish to a cutting Big for a slam.

I agree about sanders. His confidence level must be quite low . He's not taking any outside shots , even pull up jumpers from mid-range.

That tends to happen when you brick everything outside of 10 feet.

It's really mind boggling what happened to his outside shot this year.

He wasn't right this game. Forget the shots he looked a step slow and sloppy even when he was dribbling up the court. I know he was really sick last game wondering if he still has the bug.

He did not take any that is the point. I know Coach Pikiell wants him to distribute which he clearly is doing but Coach also lets him drive on his man at will and throw up the bank or the floater. He needs to pull up and hit the mid range jumper like Nigel did a lot last night and he also needs to use the screen and pull up and hit the 3.

Sanders is frustrating that he will make a pro move to the basket for two, and the next trip he
will lose the ball unpressured, poor ball handling

I disagree with the poster who thinks he was a good ball handler last year, we saw a lot
of him not taking care of the ball then also.

He has more quality players around him this year and doesn't have to carry the team. I would have thought that would have made him better but I actually think he has taken a half-step back this year. He shows flashes but something isn't quite right with him.

Sanders had an outstanding first half all around with his game, second not so much but at that point he and Johnson were forcing because they had to do everything to jump start the offense

To me Sanders, is too much schoolyard. Way to loose with the ball and plays out of control. His passing is always risky, but is the most athletic guard we have with great skills. Needs maturing.

He will be here for more time with us. 4 years.

Pikiell has asked something of him. That is the change.

Last year, Jordan gave Sanders the keys to the Bentley. Little discipline, little offering him for him to do anymore fr anybody else besides himself.

Sanders is doing well. Bright kid. He will get better I am sure. He is not confident in his shot obviously, and it is shown.

Being a 4 year player can only help Sanders get to where he wants to go...and Rutgers too.

My point was that he didn't take any last night because, for all of the games before this one, he has been bricking almost every outside shot he takes. Either Pike has now told him to stop shooting, or he realizes that his shot is way off.

He's a talented player who tries to do too much at times.

It's too bad that RU does not have a senior PG that he could learn the ropes from, but he is gaining valuable experience and finally being coached how to play the game the right way.

With Thiam out, Sanders and Johnson were forced to try and generate offense on their own. I don't blame corey at all. If Thiam is healthy, this ball game ends differently.

I understand your point but it is a confidence thing he has to shake. He shot reasonably well on mid range and 3 point shots last year despite the added attention he received as our best player. He has to get in the gym and shoot 100, then 200, and then hit a few in a game and then he will go on a tear. We need him to shoot better and keep defenses honest, that will open the post more, to have a very successful winning season in the conference

You can only suck up water so fast, even if your a sponge. Hes' being asked to learn/do a lot this year -- including being both a point and a SG. He apparently didn't have the coaching in HS that a prominent program would have. In trying to perform the tasks Pike has asked, shooting has taken a back seat. And you know shooters must shoot.

Of course he go off the rails from time to time. The shot will make it's way back. He and his mates will learn eachother better. Give him time and games. I have confidence you'll see him progressing eventually in all phases of the game.

The first long range shot Sanders needs to focus on are his free throws. 67% is not good. When we were going on a free throw tear in the 1st half, he had a turn and missed both. I had a feeling he would.
