Sarge threw some good questions to Ash and Meherringer about reason still running power spread..

I remember when Fridge got here and when asked about what offense he would run he said he had to see what his players could do first and he would adjust accordingly. Mehringer is a kid who only knows how to run the one offense he has been taught. That's the problem when you hire the least experienced OC in the country. Why would anyone think he has any idea how to run any other offense?

The offense struggled against the good teams under Ralph as well.

Spread not working like planned and pro set out of picture? QBs can’t play either of those well?
I suggest a starting backfield of Goodwin , Hicks, Martin & Sneed ( was his high school’s Wildcat QB in his junior season)
With that backfield RU could be run this offense >

Yeah but you cant run that "gimmick offense." Its not "real football." Rutgers dont need to run the Navy/Army/old 1970 Texas offense.

wow. Thanks for posting this. I have never heard a coach say he has no talent on his team so direct before. Doesn't matter what we TRY to do, we don't execute nor have the ability to do so.

So I would ask this. Tell everyone you are just throwing away the season and do not worry about losing all the games. Let it fly on offense. And just go get those players.

I understand. You can see it. Our O line has been below average for years. Cannot handle any of the better teams. And we've had 2 guys who could go out and catch a pass over the last 5-6 years (Sanu/Carroo). And the QB position? hahaha.

OK coach, go get the players.

Listen, this isn't PlayStation or Xbox. You can't just show up on Sunday and say, " hey let's just scrap everything we've worked on installing for 9 months, and put in a pro style offense". Real football doesn't work like that. It takes months to install a new scheme. You just don't draw stuff up in the dirt and hope it works.
Yes, very much so.
Not quite the same thing but I also think people make way to much of of the concept of half time adjustments. You got certain players and a set of schemes and plays. Within that you make a few tweaks. But Saturday night we could have had Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry in the locker room but what were they supposed to do with what we had Saturday night? There's only so much one can do.
