I really hope fans make the effort to attend the game. Saturday night games traditionally have attracted large crowds at the RAC. Yeah, Morgan State will provide the opposition. That should not deter fans from attending. In fact, a big crowd will show the players that it is there to specifically see the team, not the opponent.

6,000+ is what I'm hoping for. BTW, it is the only Saturday night home game of the season.

Saturday promos:

Healthcare Appreciation & First Responders Night/

Dollar hot dogs/

Free Rutgers silicone wristbands/

Post-game player autographs

A lot of people wear em so I dunno...

I know people who wear them to show that they are supporting a charitable cause (I know people who have EL Believe wristbands, or pink wristbands they wear during breast cancer awareness month), but why would someone want a Rutgers basketball wristband. If I want to show that I'm a Rutgers fan, I wear a Rutgers t-shirt or cap.

I guess for the kids

This wristband thing has morphed into advertising...you see them for everything anymore. (Some ) people think they are so cool to wear and free advertising. Got 1 from a restaurant in Lahaska, PA a few weeks ago. Bowl full of them sitting there. (stupid me grabbed one not even looking until later what it was for. Now sitting in a catch-all bin somewhere in case I need a big rubber band for something LOL.

RU's thing could be more about supporting the team though....

Piscataway Mike is spot on..this team needs fan support. They played their a____ off especially at end of game v Miami. I'll be there rooting hard for this staff and team. It would be nice to get some Star-ledger/ NJ.com love but they are still bashing the football team. The question is very simple: How should measure progress for this program? I have seen too many positives so hopefully more fans see this and come out ands support this hustling team.

Somebody at RU, Marketing, athletic dept I don't know what Dept or function should make it their goal to reach 6m attendance on Sat night.. Adm people need to have their feet held to the fire to bring support for this team .. Promote it so the students get
To the game.. Make sure shuttles are available.. Just saying the level of team effort should be in parity to fan support. We saw how team responded when crowd got into v Hartford!!

I don't know if Rutgers does this, but how about setting up tables in each of the five student centers handing out schedules and ticket brochures or just hand out student admission tickets for Saturday's game until the cows come home . If extra space is needed, have some kids sit in the gray seats.

Yes Heaven, it just seems like not enough is being done. We expect a lot from our coaches and yet administration needs to do more to promote. It's frustrating to see so many empty seats especially in the student section. They need to step it up!!!!!! Need some accountability here.

Tough time of year for many students to attend. Finals approaching. Still Saturday early enough...

if the students do not show up for this game they won't be at a game until January 21 vs Nebraska.

I just think 6K is an overly ambitious goal Mike, think we get somewhere around the 4K mark give or take a few hundred (actual not announced)

The administration has done things to help attendance, they paid for assistant coaches.

If you were a stat head and tried to formulate an equation that solved for attendance the only variable that would matter is on court performance. once we get good marketing could certainly help get a few more bodies and increase revenue per seat in the RAC. Right now effort is futile.

bac, you're probably right; 6K probably is a bit pie in the sky. However, I'll be quite disappointed if we don't reach 5K+, mainly because it's our only Saturday night game of the season.

You have to ask yourself who would be buying a ticket and coming to watch Rutgers and Morgan State. I just don't see it.

The team has a 7-1 record in a state of NINE MILLION PEOPLE,including hundreds of thousands of students, alumni, and staff, and we are hoping for 6,000. Ugh !!!

I know you remember back in the day, non conference games against the likes of Delaware and Lafayette would draw 6-7K on a Saturday night in December or January.

more importantly what is Hobbs and RU marketing doing to ensure fannies in the seat on Jan 1 vs Penn State at 2:30 PM, a dreadful sentence given to us by the Big 10 of having a home game on that day and in the afternoon. They will need to try and get some families in the building because thats the only demo to pull from that day. Should have made some combo deal with the football game vs PSU

If you go to the January 1 game, you get a free bottle of Bloody Mary mix and a free ticket to the January 28 game at MSG. Scheduling that January 1 game and giving up a home game for a tough opponent on a neutral floor for the convenience of the opponent's fans is confirmation of doormat status.

From the looks of it, it is always a tough time of the year for students.
The dwindling fan base has been happening for decades. It will take some wins against B1G opponents before 6000 plus crowds show up at the RAC.

Anything is better than getting free tickets to see your team self-destruct as in past years. Kinda like that David Letterman joke about the waitress telling him they burnt his fries, so to make up for it they gave him extra: "If there's anything I like better than burnt fries, it's plenty of em."

the Big East played favorites definitely and we were told that when we went into the Big 10 that everyone is treated equal but thats not true at all. There is a reason RU gets these unfavorable home games on Jan 1 and that game at MSG is totally preposterous given our fanbase, why would RU agree to that? I think Uncle Jim has forced RU's hand with Yankee Stadium and MSG even though the company line is he hasn't
