In the past 2 years he does a good job against teams he should beat (except PSU last year). I still think he is an average to below average coach and probably won't take us to the next level, but against same level or inferior teams, he is as good as any.

When you are as bad as us, there are not that many team "we should beat."

Fans are ridiculous, if they lost today..it would be "time to clean house". They had a huge comeback win and now it's "say what you want..blah, blah, blah. It's amazing ...the week to week opinions regarding the coaching staff.

Flood does have a good record against bad teams, what's wrong with that statement?

It never fails. Whenever flood comes back to beat a bad team he becomes a genius.
I'm glad we won but to think Flood should get extra credit for beating Indiana is silly. Beat Ohio State next week and the Floodies will have every right to thump their chests...beating Indiana is pretty much routine for most of the conference.

what about kent state?

Not for nothing, but 3rd qtr tonight it looked like Indy was cruising towards a 5-2 record, Sud's was looking like a #1 pick. MaJette(whatever) was a star in the making.

Fast fwd a couple hours. Indy's a bad team. Whatever. We are 3-3. You are what your record says you are? Well that sounds about right.

I am no longer the Flood supporter I was, but let's give credit where credit is due.

1) Great 4th down fake punt call. No two ways about it.
2) The vast majority of teams would've mailed it in the way Indiana played in the 3rd qtr. It's obvious the team believes in him and kept playing hard. Even after Caroo was lost.
3) His steadfast belief in Federico apparently had a positive effect on him, and should pay dividends down the road.
4) Time mgmt was top notch, regardless of small Indiana brain fart.

There are just not that many coaches out there who could coax their teams into 25 point comebacks in the span of less than 10 games. You have to be obtuse not to understand that.

I don't know what kind of Coach Flood will turn out to be in the end, but I do know one sign of superior coaches is their ability to bring their teams back from the dead in games. Perhaps we now have the quarterback who can make those key drives at the end of games also.

.

Big comebacks have become passe in contemporary cfb. There's a dozen a week. Nobody plays defense well anymore. RU gave up 50+ to a mediocre team and came back on a mediocre team. Wont keep the Patriot League safe from Flood stealing their recruits after the rest of the B1G steals his

I agree, this is one of those smoke screen wins. Coming back from a 25 point deficit to beat a bad Indiana team somehow makes this a solid team and Flood a great coach...reality is a week away, lol.

Notice how flood can't come from behind to beat a team like penn state, let alone ohio state, but only Maryland and Indiana?

That's why I call them smoke screen wins, even the win against a very bad USF team that made us bowl eligible two seasons ago was a smoke screen win. Everytime we beat a bad team alot of people point to it as proof that the program is headed in the right direction. A blowout next week will be ignored because somehow beating Indiana is proof that all is well.

If he can work on is mechanics and improve his arm strength before his Junior year I think he could be a very good QB.

This team was faced with adversity this year. Not too many ball clubs would have kept it together after the arrests, Floods suspension and Blackwell. But this ball club found a way to survive. I see the secondary and defense as a whole playing better with each and every game. If we could avoid drama next year this team is going to win big. We do need to recruit a little better if we're going to compete for a B10 title.

Flood does deserve credit for keeping the team together. If we can beat MD, Army and either Wisconsin or Nebraska, we will be bowl eligible. If we can somehow beat OSU (i know keep dreaming) or Michigan (possible) that would be golden.
