While 7-6 is disappointing, I tend to agree with Kyk that we have a program that we can be proud of. It really wasn't that long ago that we had one of the worst P5 programs in the country. Like the bare basement. Right now, we are an average P5 program. Without making excuses, there were a lot of injuries that derailed this season. And a lot of other's playing hurt. However, there is optimism for next year despite the schedule. Athan had one of the best seasons in a long time. Low bar I know. But him coming back for another year in the same system with a lot of the same receivers is huge. I think our running backs are very good and the committee can replicate Monangai. If Toure comes back full strength, that would be a huge plus. We seem to be doing decent in the portal. What Flats did with the offensive line is nothing short of a miracle and KC has been really good as an OC. Perfect OC for Schiano.

I'm optimistic that Schiano will fix the defense. When our offense struggled, he made the requisite changes. He got rid of the coordinator and made the right hire. Got a perfect offensive line coach that compliments KC well. We have a QB, who may be able to throw for 3,000 yards next year. Who knows if Sam Brown would be able to come back full strength. Not counting on it but if he does, that would be a huge plus even if he's just a goalline back.

I also think the Fran Brown comparisons are apples to oranges. Let's see how good Fran Brown does without McCord. He hit the lottery with that. He threw for 4779 yards. He also played a dog shit schedule. I think the defensive coordinator pickup and a few more portal additions could make a difference. Also, notice how few players we lose to the portal. We literally lost one player that anyone gives a shit about that we would want to keep. Wesley Bailey. But guys like Anwan Raymond and Ian Strong could enter the portal tomorrow and go to a blue blood. But it seems like he has the players believing. We've lost very few starters to the portal. Overall, Schiano is doing a good job. It's frustrating at times but every time people count him out, he comes back. And while the Kansas State loss was putrid, that's a good football team right outside the top 25. Pitt lost the same way but to Toledo. Colorado got smoked in their bowl too.

I know I can be a downer or negatoid but I truly enjoy this board and everyone on it. Sometimes I just talk smack but I hope nobody ever takes it personal. We're all on the same team. Happy New Year to all.
