Seattle Times: "Rutgers is Imploding"

The guys on BTN 1G Football and Beyond seemed to be implying the same thing.

We'll see. Our offense is definitely going to have to win the day against WSU, but it was going to be that way no matter who was in the secondary.

It's not a good situation for the WSU game. Half the important people in the secondary are basically gone. You really want to go against a passing attack that routinely puts up 500 yds passing with some real young inexperienced players in coverage...worse than last year? I don't think so. All I know is the offense and the DL better have great games.

Implode this

Seattle Times beat writer's thoughts leading-up to WSU game. Nothing new, just illustrates optics with national media. It is, what it is.

Rutgers is far from imploding. Remember the thread about the bad guys in college football? No team tries to recruit the bad guys, sometimes we just end up with them.

Do NOT despair!

This storm is here and will probably get worse before it is better. Trust me, Bobby Petrino taught me this.

BUT, it will improve. The players are gone. No way they are coming back. And KF might be gone but not before the season ends, if he is gone at all.

And there are always options! Start thinking about OPTIONS!

But, in the meantime, get your mind right and get behind the team! Support the players! Show the team some major love because I know that they have not given up!

I will be there tomorrow rooting on the Scarlet Knights. What is YOUR game plan?

Can't see the trees from the forest here on SN.com. we just lost what, 7 starters ? I think "imploding" is not too far off.

I don't get the concern with WSU. They will be a worse team than they were last year as the result of just having to fill one position, QB. Their defense is terrible. I also believe they dont have a punter. If RU can't beat this team at home they will not win a conference game.

Where are you getting 7? I think there were 2 starters, unless you're counting Barnwell, but no way should he be counted bc we all knew he was out. There are other starters out due to injury, but hopefully they'll be back.

Some people enjoy hyperbole

Ouch ... I just hit my head on my computer monitor because I feel asleep half way through this article.

Just need to run the ball and control the clock in this game. Need to keep the defense fresh. We have the stable of backs to do it just need the line to step up and push them around. A fresh defensive line will cause them to make mistakes.

7 starters? Really? Let's see, 5 players were arrested, but we just lost 7 starters. And save me from the "oh I was just exaggerating." We lost two starters in Delon and Andre.
We'll see what this team is made of now.

OK thought I saw 7. Probably all the wallowing in despair that was going on here yesterday had me thinking the the situation is worse than what it really is.

Chuck D/Public Enemy said it best:

The meaning of all of that, some media is the wack
As you believe it's true
It blows me through the roof
Suckers, liars, get me a shovel
Some writers I know are damn devils
For them I say, don't believe the hype
(Yo Chuck, they must be on the pipe, right?)
Their pens and pads I'll snatch cause I've had it
I'm not a addict fiending for static
I'll see their tape recorder and I grab it

(No, you can't have it back, silly rabbit)
I'm going to my media assassin, Harry Allen -- I gotta ask him
(Yo Harry, you're a writer, are we that type?)

(Don't believe the hype)

What did you expect the Northwest newspapers to write? After all, NJ is not the norm in constantly trashing the home state teams. Let's not get all bent out of shape. While there's blatant exaggeration and saccharine support of Wash St, it's nothing more than posters do on this board.

Philadelphia Inquirer took RU to the woodshed this morning..... "Rutgers has firmly positioned itself as the laughingstock of college athletics," "I think Rutgers is the latest in a long line of schools that has sacrificed their souls to reach something that they're likely never going to reach," ... Ouch Lots of articles of many others just ripping Rutgers and what a laughingstock it has become.....

Media all based on sensationalism - the older I get the more amazed I am at the crap that gets printed all in the name of making a buck.
