Semi OT: Josh Freeman & Terry Shea

I admit to being myopic when it comes to Shea's record: 11-44 (and don't forget to throw in the 3-20 of Schiano's first two years); the blowout losses to Temple and everyone else; the empty stadium. Greater minds than mine might be able to look past these things. But I will not forget that it was Shea's reign that really associated RU with terrible football (Anderson & Graber failed, but were not disasters).

Just so long as someone manages his vacation schedule a little better.

I'm in agreement with 4 Real. Some folks continue to show a lack of class. Terry's situation wasn't all Terry. Poor leadership by the AD and administration and perhaps just not a good fit. Bringing in.somone from the west coast to the east is usually not that productive as is the reverse. While some here will openly criticize Shea I've never heard a negative peep from him or even his son Garret who played here. It's called class and moving on in life.

The point of the OP lies in the words "properly utilized".

Shea's failure as a head coach at Rutgers was due to a multiplicity of factors and conditions, but his football career, overall, has not been a failure. He's an expert in football offense in general and quarterback play in particular.

It's not only unreasonable but demonstrates an overall lack of football knowledge to simply dismiss Terry Shea at every mention of his name.

Shea is a good coach. Just not Head Coach material in a P5 capacity. Hard to argue he's not one of the best QB coaches in the business.

Shea is actually a very good coach. He knows offense and quarterbacks the way sugar knows ice cream. He failed at RU because his recruiting was totally ineffective, and that left him with no talent to work with.

For the UCF fans that might still come around Shea was similar to Kruczek. Not much of a head coach but worked well with QB's.
