Looks like they left their mojo at home. Their coach is going to have to earn it at half time.

I said this after their BE tourney win that they may have shot their load on that game...might have been better not to win it. One big thing about this game....SHU going to the NCAA for the first time in a while while Gonzaga has been there done that...no its not everytime the experience wins over inexperience...see Yale over Baylor but I find that its a pretty good angle to look at as to see what schools could have an advantage, combine that with SHU being sent out to a pro Gonzaga crowd and there you have it.

It been a great year for them nonetheless, I would never root for them but you have to tip your cap to how they finished the year after being on the bubble 3 weeks from selection sunday. They are down 10 now midway through the 2nd half so they could make a comeback still

I guess whitehead will be back. That is good for them. Nice season although a disappointing end.

I was rooting for them. I don't usually do that, but I admired the grit of this team

Definitely not sad about it though ;)

Just me but I NEVER root for them. Anyway, Whitehead set an NCAA record last night. Worst individual 3-point shooting performance in the history of the tourney. Was either 0 for 10 or 0 for 11 from behind the 3-point line.

Terrible performance overall. Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of kids and a greater fanbase.... bahahahahaha!

I was completely wrong on SHU, I didn't think they would have anywhere close to the year they had, so they overcame a lot in my book. I also think a ton of things fell in their favor, but the fact remains, they were better without Sterling Gibbs and Brandon Mobley, two offensive-minded, me-first type of players that didn't scrap or do the dirty work like Derrick Gordon and Sanogo did for them all year long. Gordon literally carried the squad in spots when Whitehead wasn't making plays in certain games this year.

But, I was pretty certain that the Big East as a conference was in decline and this game and the Providence/USC game essentially proved that for me.....I know Providence won the game with some help from a decent USC team missing 3 front end of 1 and 1's that should have iced the game. Seton Hall barely squeaked by St. Johns a couple of weeks ago at the Garden, but took off after that and got the big wins they needed by beating Xavier twice and knocking off Nova.

I was hearing a lot of complaining about Seton Hall's seeding/location/draw and who they played or how many fouls weren't called on Gonzaga last night, but Josh Hart was fouled on the putback attempt in the BE final and the ref swallowed his whistle with a blatant no-call.........The Zags were headed to the NIT if they didn't win their conference tournament and Gonzaga pretty much owned the paint most of the game....this was not the Gonzaga teams of years past at all, they kept SHU in the game with almost 20 turnovers and some easy chip shot misses in the 2nd half. If SHU could have knocked down one or two timely 3's, this game could have been a different result.

The kid Sabonis is a very good big man for Gonzaga and you felt like whenever he got post position on Sanogo and Delgado, that he was going to score or get fouled. The difference is when you play in the Big East, you don't face size each and every night like you do in Power 5 leagues or with the players like Sabonis and Wiltjer.... Delgado was forced to defend one-on-one in the post vs being allowed to roam around and alter shots like he does against other teams in the Big East.....SHU doesn't have the additional player with size inside, to stop post play and they got exposed last night in not having it beyond Delgado. Gonzaga's bigs also kept Delgado off the glass and well under his normal 10-11 PPG....

People can kill Whitehead if they want, but he pretty much carried them the last 4 to 5 games and his potential departure is almost a foregone conclusion at this point, I'd be shocked if he returned......but leaving with a clunker of a game like last night would be tough....if he returned, they would be a lock for a top Preseason 15-20 ranking, although I would have doubts that they would truly belong at that level....even with a normal game from the field by Whitehead or better foul shooting, it would have then been a closer game, but I can't say SHU would have clearly won if they shot better, Gonzaga didn't exactly play their best game last night.

SHU overachieved this year IMO, had great chemistry getting rid of Gibbs and Sina, two very distracting players and got a team-oriented glue guy in Gordon who guarded people and did all the little things that completely changed the make up of their team. For the first time under Willard, they looked like a "team", not a bunch of pieces that didn't fit together or like most teams in college do. They had a great year and I like their guard Powell that they are bringing in, he's a safe, sound player that will help them, but I think in time, the Big East will not get too many NCAA wins in the tournament, unless they get matchups against teams that don't have post-up size up front and teams with shot altering size.

I think the altitude was also a factor....I didn't like the fact they were sent out to Denver and playing Gonzaga, who is used to playing in altitude, not 5000+ ft obviously, but Spokane is elevated

Not only altitude. I think the game started at 10:45 Eastern a week after moving to DST. The game ended around 1am. That surely had an effect on their sleep. It's always difficult for an Eastern team moving West to play a west coast team. Especially for a late night game.

So, in the beginning of the year you unequivocally stated that RU and SHU had comparable talent on their respective Teams. That alone shows your bias. Not one member of this Board would ever agree with that statement. Not now and not then. Now you are saying that the Big East is in decline because Providence edged USC and SHU lost to Gonzaga. So, by your reasoning the Big 10 should be in even worse decline because Purdue lost to Little Rock Ark and Michigan barely beat Tulsa. Right?

The only thing I could agree with you on is that SHU needs a true center instead of playing Delgado, a PF in the center position.

Virtually no one on our Board is complaining about the Refs in the Gonzaga game. We played badly and that's why we lost.

Lastly, Jenkins blatantly pushed off on Carrington and knocking him down on his 3 pointer that put Nova ahead shot which wasn't called either. So it's okay to point to the Hart non-call, but ignore non-call push off by Jenkins?

For the first time ever I had them winning a tourney game after the way they looked in the BET. Thought they had a chance to go far if they kept up their play. Oh well.

Spokane is 1800' above sea level. In my "rule of thumb" anything under 2000' is sea level. Generally speaking, you lose 4% of oxygen every 1000 feet above 2000. So Denver being at 5280' you are just over 3000' feet above 2000 so you lose about 13% of air. But so did Gonzaga.

SHU just looked either out of shape or hung over. Still a great last month of the season for them.

Disappointing for them to end such an exciting season on a clunker performance like that. They just couldn't get anything going last night.
