Sa ..who hasn't made a shot from the line inn forever...the turning point was him not having the strength to flush it down. and the last 3 minutes where one coach knew it was time to foul and make Rutgers go to the line.
There were a lot of reasons we lost the game in OT and this one is one of the important ones. When Sa was wide open for the dunk he tried to finesse it up there with a lazy-ass layup. Dunk the Effin' ball!!!! Other obvious reasons, FT shooting, which we did better today and turnovers. We really need to clamp down on silly TO's, which include bad perimeter passing and dribbling into traffic.
As for the endgame with Happ, yes we should have fouled him there and make him earn the tie at the charity stripe, but that's a split decision by Gettys, who remember, had four fouls already, and that probably got into his head instead of realizing, "Who cares. If I foul out and send him to the FT line and he misses one, we win the game..."
I knew we would lose in OT because you can't allow the 15th ranked team, who is used to playing tight games back in.
Still, as angry as I was when we lost the game, hours later, I'm very proud of the overall effort. Pikiell can friggin' coach and once we get a few lights out shooters in here, we will win more of these games than lose them.
