SIAP: Delgado coming back to the Hall

Players of his size and skill set are going extinct in the NBA. If you lack a jumpshot or are not a threat as a roll man, there's no place for you.

Sanders announcing he's back would be even better, but Hall fans should be happy about this and could lead to a good season.

Delgado might have found out going back to school would be better in the long term because he didn't like the type of offers he was told to expect if he went pro now.

Don't worry, Willard and his MAAC staff will hold back shoe yet again...

Maybe Williard will hold them back but their Assistant Staff is good. But maybe I'm biased for a few reasons.

I'm waiting for a few posters to say Angel coming back is no big deal as he's easily replaceable? lol

Maybe so. The America East a powerhouse?

not looking to get into a pissing match about which coach is better--feel free to keep that garbage on your site, simply looking at Willard's body of work, which is a lot longer. btw, Pikell at least took SBU to the tourney once, unlike Willard at Iona...Hobbs on staff isn't mid-major caliber either

scarlet - he took SHU to thr dance, twice.

This is a dumb argument. You are in effect arguing that our present AD makes questionable hiting decisions.

I frankly could care less where they come from.

I would prefer Coach has a player's zip/area code much lower on the checklist than talent and fit for what he is trying to do here.

If he can't get good NJ area players to come to their state university how can we expect him to get good players from other regions?

Willlard a fair target. He was only at Iona for 3 yrs taking over after a 2-28 season from Rutland. Took Pikell 8 yrs to get there. You bring much animus to your posting. I doubt I'm the only one to notice that.

Duke like Kentucky, Kansas and Ville along with a few others are National Brands.

If they had to play with the best of their states there wouldn't be many one and dones wearing their UNI's

I believe one has nothing to do with the other. Does Duke care where they come from? As long as they are good, who cares?
Considering one of their guys in the semi-recent past was from Alaska, I would say Coach K doesn't care either.

Hey Rat, where have you been? I sort of missed your venomous anti SHU posts. Brings back memories of the old message board wars.

The local recruit theory is nice but not a requirement to succeed....basketball is a global sport, same rules everywhere, there is nothing special from a NJ recruit from a NY/PA/MD/DC or VA recruit etc....Take the most talented kids that want to join your program....

Regarding Delgado, given their beefed up OOC schedule, this can only help their cause in those matchups like Indiana, Louisville and RU....in conference, Delgado keeps a hole from being created or forcing them to go the grad transfer/JUCO market to get rebounds. Going to be a fun event at the RAC when they visit will a full roster.

It's Rat. Forgive him for He knows not what he's talking about.

I don't see a fun event at the RAC when Seton Hall starting lineup clearly overmatches Rutgers depleted squad assuming Sanders departure.

I don't care where they come from either, but still ... Duke is a private university and we are not, and unlike Kansas we have a lot of basketball talent within a short drive of our campus. The logic of recruiting well locally is inescapable.

Ten years ago I would have agreed with you BK but IMO it's now a different world.

Internet , AAU , BTN , One and Done , Shoe Company Alliances , Foreign Players-------the landscape has changed .

Kid of today wants minutes and the league------at least the difference makers do.

Vegas, do you forget you were down 8 at the half last year? Michigan beat us by three at the RAC last year. Do you think you were better than Michigan last year? Should be fun and I expect Thiam to be much improved this year. Also if Freeman improves his three point shot he could be a difficult player this year. Took Wisconsin to overtime, keep thinking the game will be easy.

SHU is loaded but somehow I think we will make it a good game. We did lead by 8 or 9 at the half at the PRU this past season and the game was only a 1 point game with two and a half minutes remaining. SHU with all their 4 starters who have played forever should win easily but I think we will play well. I am not saying we will win but perhaps SHU might be reading to many headlines.

No surprise. We've had some lopsided games but we've also had many more close, competitive games (even one one team is way better than the other). As much as some RU/SHU fans don't want to think of this as a rivalry, we both have a fair bit of players either from the same state (less so these days) or who have played together/against each other on AAU teams. These kids know each other and play on a different level when they do.
