Small Conference Refs....

The annoucer said the ref says "Is there anyone having a better time than me" .. officiating shouldn't be fun. If he's concerned about fun than that means he will play to the home crowd and atmosphere and upset. Enough

Stony Brook flopped like crazy and the refs fell for it some. Flopping is the worst part of college basketball and generally the refs don't fall for it as often as they used to. Coach K is to blame for the practice.

That Jim Burr call at West Virginia in Billet/Hodgson days still drains me, not to mention all of his other ones.

As long as Tim Higgins and Jim Burr stay retired.

"Jim Burr is the best referee who ever lived." said Tim Higgins

That sums it up. We'd be 5-4 if they crewed our games this season.

You're not kidding.

Tim Higgins was one of the reasons the term "the RU Screw" came about.

Tim Higgins gave a great talk at a Court Club meeting after his retirement recalling prior games and his experiences as a referee.

Tim Higgins (Dumont, NJ?) had a brother who passed this year who was a heck of a high school hoops player in northern NJ (Don Bosco HS) and later captained Georgetown with his high school teammate, Hillsdale, NJ's Charlie Adrion.

The two And 1 plays Corey had that got called for charging were bad calls especially the one where he stole pass. Liked that he is learning to keep his composure. Coach Pike was pissed as well.

Agree with this. At least one of the CS charges was a definite blocking. The other call on Getty,s backing his guy aggressively was a horrible call. Refs were letting that go all game. Thought that home team got some home cooking but I didn't think it was over the top.

Corey had 4 fouls and 3 were charges. The one when he stole the ball should have been and one. The other when he scored was very questionable too. Williams seemed to be mugged going up for a shot near the end of the first half while driving to the hoop. After deliberation the refs just gave the ball to SB. I don't see how they thought he just let the ball go out of bounds on his own. The first half I thought had several bad calls but the refs were more on top of things in the second half.
