Was told that a RU player or ex player on some sports team may have been arrested in a big gambling operation take down. One of the 5 families out of Bergen or Passaic county
No idea if true.but the gambling operation is true -- an ex high school player from Garfield is involved .

There's no mention of RU in articles. There's only a rumor that a player or ex player is involved. I know an ex Montclair state player was arrested but this is no big deal.

Mob connections to RU probably is only the betting public placing bets on Rutgers games .
A quick google found this:
>New Jersey bettors already are banned from betting on in-state schools. Bettors will also not be able to wager on the Sweet 16 and Elite matchups in Newark, too. The Garden State rules do not allow betting for any collegiate game taking place in the state.<
Taking the "OP" and clickbait headline seriously is a Bad idea

It's true and limited to RU athlete, also think a Passaic County councilman was caught up in this ring too.

Meanwhile at a school like St. Johns the AD calls up his Uncle’s golf buddy who calls Tony Tilapia who pays off the Chief of Police to give the forfeited gambling revenue to a janitor at the field house who leaves the cash in the associate AD’s office which then gets anonymously donated to the school’s NIL fund by the secretary.

Oh and Pitino gets 5% for his annual supply of bang maids.

If it turns out to be false about a Rutgers athlete, then shame on Jeff Nadu. With everyone trying to be "the guy" to break news first regardless of facts is the world we live in now. The damage is done because people will never care about the truth.

I asked ChatGPT to cross reference the names in the article to see if any had ties to Rutgers athletics in the past, and they do not.
