For those who took the trips into NY to meet up, drink, and watch some great wrestling ... how's the weekend been? Did the NCAA do a good job running the tournament in your mind? How were the meetups?

I was only there on Friday, but it was tremendous inside MSG, the tourny ran like clock work, the PA announcers constantly updated the matches and you could tell they were NCAA wrestling veterans, Huge replay /update scoreboards everywhere. I posted some other observations and I'll copy and paste from them from yesterday:

Session opened with a loud playing of Ozzy Osbourne's classic "Crazy Train' which got all the Roided up Rasslin Fans in a lather ! lol

The Garden did a great job w huge video screens everywhere showing action on all 8 mats, plus the PA guys were obviously wrestling vets who kept the crowd informed on everything going on. The Huge 4 sided screen that hung from the ceiling was also very helpful keeping tabs on other bouts.

RU crowd did a great job of cheering on the Rider Wrestlers (NJ kids). The loudest crowds in order (IMO) were : Penn St, Rutgers, Cornell, Va Tech, Ohio St, Okla St. Surprisingly , Iowa didn't have as large a crowd as I thought, same with Mich, although both MIch and Iowa have BB games tonight in the NCAA at Barclays Brooklyn.

IMO- most impressive wrestlers are Nashon Garrett, Dierenger, Retherford and Snyder.

Best Gyro anywhere is on 7th Ave , 1 block N of MSG called Gyro II. Worth the train ride just for the Gryo w a little extra Tzikzki (sp?) sauce.

Man, are the beers in the Garden expensive ,lol, and the surrounding bars too!

Awesome

I was there Thursday nigh and it was fantastic! Blew away Philly a few years back, IMHO, but that's just one man's thoughts!

Gyro II is very good, no doubt, but far from the "best Gyro anywhere." I could take you to several street vendors whose Gyros blow theirs away, to be honest, and now you've got me thinking about them Abro. Thanks!

I was there on Friday night. Great event. Really cool coming out of Penn Station and seeing so many different schools represented. Garden did a great job. Hopefully one day soon RU can be the host school at the Prudential Center.

The wrestling crowd and the NYC St. Patrick's Day Crowd together on Thursday created an great atmosphere. MSG did a good job on all counts. The RU crowd was vocal on every match. There was plenty to do between sessions. Hope they come back here again. $$$$

only have this 1 tournament to compare it to and I'm pretty biased in favor of the city but I thought it was outstanding.

Was there Thursday and Friday. We met a guy from Oregon who was extremely complimentary of our team, especially Ashnault. "That one boy you got there is a hell of a wrestler."

The crowd in 211 was great. Thanks to all of you who came out to support the program. The loud RU chants were invigorating, especially after Ashnault won his quarters match. Really made me feel that we arrived hearing that loud RU chant at the Garden. Just an overall great experience. New York did a hell of a job and the mix of us bull headed ex-wrestlers and fans mixed in with the St. Patties day drunks was actually quite fun. Great time at Stouts between sessions Thursday night.

Loved it. Got last minute tickets for Thursday and was in the Cornell section about 10 rows from mats. Didn't realize Kyle Dake was next to me. He was pissed when Realbuto (#2 seed) lost to Weatherspoon in 1st round - made me realize how tough it is to wrestle in this tournament - and tempered my expectations for our 10 wrestlers. Still proud that we were only 1 of 3 teams that brought their whole team.
