For the spike. People , yours truly included , shell out a lot of coin for tickets and donations to this program . You expect things to be run competently . Someone needs to be held accountable for last night's disaster . Fire someone , bench someone etc . But this is Rutger and we will try to go 0-1 next week

"It was the right thing for Wilson to do. But in another interview a few minutes later, receiver Leonte Carroo said the call to spike the ball came from offensive coordinator Ben McDaniels, which makes sense given that he is the one in direct communication with the quarterback. "

Can u stfu? He's a kid that clearly made an absolutely terrible mistake, one that he will regret for a long time. But no one owes you a scalp so you can feel compensated as a ticket holder. Total nonsense.

We will never be a winning program with fans like this . The fans that not only accept this type of play and play calling , but actually defend it . Unbelievable ! It's like we have pop Warner fans here that applaud effort and stupid play.

Losers mentality. We unfortunately have a fan base full of these.

Games are not ever one or lost on one play - there a multitude of plays before and./or after the one in question.

OP - let's say it was all Laviano's decision, based on your theory do you then owe him something for throwing 0 INTs, throwing 3 TD passes, and making key scrambling decisions? Laviano and this offense did a lot more good than bad yesterday against a good D and should be commended.

OP: Guess you want to keep starting the same thread in different forms. Last night was hardly a disaster! People dying in the South Carolina floods this week or being executed in the Middle East for their religious beliefs or being killed in a mass shooting is a disaster. Last night was a football game. One we could have won but didn't. If this upsets you so much than just take your ticket money and donation and send it to a worthy charity and move on. And instead of firing people, fire yourself from this board. Don't think you will be missed. Just a thought.

Right, we will never be a winning team because of fans on a message board. How silly. We lost that game because we were 3/12 on third down and they were 11/17 with their receivers making unreal plays. We did not lose because of the spike. Taking the sack was a way bigger problem. Needed to throw that away.

Take a lap OP. There was 10 seconds and the scoreboard hadn't changed yet. Chris clearly got confused, as I'm sure a lot of fans did.

Want to guarantee you never have a successful program? Fire people for one mistake. Every week someone would have to go.

Success depends on foundation and stability. Knee jerk desperate overreactions are more a symbol of a failed program.

I think we should hold you accountable and not let you into the stadium for the rest of the season.

I think this pretty well covers the range of appropriate responses to the OP.

Shake your fist real hard

The OP can't accept the reality that we lost so he has to play the blame game. As noted by other posters above, Games are not won or lost by one play, and it would've been extremely unlikely to score after the sack with the clock ticking down with less than 10 seconds.

Rutgers lost the game for two reasons.

1 - Connor Cook.

2 - MSU is just a better team.

Even if Laviano did spike the ball on 4th down, the chances RU throws a 50+ yard TD on a Hail Mary were very slim.

Some are acting like it's a forgone conclusion RU would have scored. Give me a break.

which could have been done while in the box, without a receiver in sight evidently.

you really need another team, you just don't have the DNA for this.

With guys draped all over you.

I rarely complain about officiating, but they were horrible last night. Apparently there is a little known rule that allows other teams to hold against Rutgers and not get called.

The spike was not the reason we lost the game. Once he took the sack, the game was basically over. We lost because we couldn't get off the field on third down! They converted third downs all game! This is a good Mich St.team, and we went toe to toe with them for 4 quarters. I have many times left this stadium pissed, but his was not one of them. I was disappointed, but State made several huge catches on 3rd down that determined the game. The effort was there. These guys played hard last night, no one should be hanging their heads.

and some act as if it's a forgone conclusion that the Hail Mary couldn't work...

Tying the game would have been a miracle, but it happens. Even with a weak arm, there's nothing to say he couldn't hit someone 35 yards deep who scrambles into the endzone. What the last two plays did was eliminate the chance. I don't agree with the OP about someone needs to be held accountable, but teams do win and tie games on Hail Mary passes. Let's not kid ourselves, it happens every year.

It's a street in NB. MrsScrew ran the surgeycenter there for a few years.
So if I'm reading you correctly, and I have no doubt that I am because we are both very smart AND were good students, "Plum Street" is so named in honor of his failed lobotomy?

Good points, I kinda wish that the completed pass early in that drive, the one that was out to about the 40, was about 3 feet higher.....open field, you never know how much yardage after a catch you can get.

Get over it. The spike was a red herring. The game was essentially over after the sack.
