***Steve Longa leaving early for the NFL Draft***

Good for him, hope it works out. I suspect a year with a more advanced defensive coaching staff might have been better, but I wish him the best. He was always a blast to watch, that's for sure.

I'm pulling for him to make an NFL roster because if he doesn't this will be a colossal loss to RU for nothing. Hopefully he knows what he's doing.

Anyone know if he went to the NFL Draft Advisory Board for a projection of where he might be selected?

Disaster. Why do third day draft picks continue to leave Rutgers early?

I wish him all the best.
But I gotta tell you this is one of my least favorite times to visit this board. Every day it seems like there's a new story about another guy you thought was gonna play for RU that's decided to move on. Bummer.
I don't know about anyone else here but I'm in dire need of some good news.
Not sure how we replace Mr. Longa.

Wish him the best. Maybe a little undersized but it may come down to how well can do in pass coverage and on special teams. Thinking mid round pick at best? I guess we are hoping Isaiah Johnson is ready for a full time gig.

He did, but he didn't want me to reveal the details of it. However, going by his decision, it looks to have been favorable.

Crap, big loss but wish him a healthy and productive NFL career, represent us well!

Met his father before the WSU game in Seattle two years ago. This is what he had big hopes for. Hope Steve can fulfill his wishes and make good for his family.

Best wishes Steve, thanks for your contributions!!!!

We are hurting at LB next year. Johnson, Margolis, Roberts saw some action.

Brandon Russell did not even play ST, doubt he contributes.

Taylor is coming off ACL surgery, he has size and speed but no experience.
Morris saw some action on ST but needs to get bigger.

Pollock may see some action as a true freshman.

I would have loved to see how Ash and his coaching staff could have improved Longa, but he's gotta do what's in his heart.

Wish him all the best!!

Thank you. I just wanted that out there before the pissing contests over whose "fault" it is started. It sounds much more like "opportunity" than "fault".

Next season is looking more and more like a loss leader. Ash and company are going to have their hands full.

Well, if you're looking for immediate playing time, inquire within...

I think he goes to patriots. They are willing to give Rutgers players a chance but I don't expect a good result in the draft, maybe free agent.

With all the returning starters I was expecting an 8-4 season next year. No reason the fans should expect less from Ash.

Don't overreacts guys this is a Flood troll. Schiano 's recruits are gone Flood is lucky he got fired and got his money before getting more embarrassed then he already has been.

Check the Round Table. Not exactly a supportive bunch chiming in over there.
I think that Steve could have used another year. But he probably figured not worth going through a whole regime change just for one year. If he gets drafted, probably a smart move.

After his freshman year I thought he would be a star and a high draft pick. I think coaching had a lot to do with this not happening.

I think he will be a good NFL player. He has the size and speed and he's a good tackler. Would have liked him back for 1 more year but wish him the best.

Remember 1 other thing that's in the mix. With the rookie salary cap, the "real" money is made with the 2nd contract. Assuming he makes it, which is certainly reasonable with respect to Longa, the sooner he gets through the rookie contract the better.

The hits keep coming. Gonna be a tough year. Well Rome wasn't built in a day.

Give me a call when you learn the first thing about football.

I said this team would go 8-4 in 2016 a month before Flood got fired and I expect at least the same results with the Messiah on board.

I'm starting to wonder about these NFL "draft grades" the league is giving to players.

Didn't Brandon Coleman leave early based, in large part, on his draft grade? And he went undrafted. And Jawan Jamison left early, didn't get drafted and never made a team.

I'm surprised Longa is leaving early. I love the guy but, to be honest, I thought he had a very poor season (for someone with NFL aspirations) and would have benefited immensely from another year.

First, Longa came out to soon. Second, Isaiah Johnson plays the middle, and should have played last year, he was better than the guy who played. Another one of those Flood screw ups.
