Curious - do Iowa fans like Fran McCaffery? Seems to be a polarizing type of personality that I can see turning some people off. I mean, he’s certainly not well liked by most opponents’ fans, but I’m curious what Hawkeye fans think of him.

I am going to assume that the attitude of iowa fans towards Fran is what you would expect:

- if iowa continues to be good they will like him. Fans will tolerate an a’hole when he wins - “he might be an a’hole but he’s our a’hole”

- but if they start to suck they will turn on him very quickly - much more quickly than if he wasn’t an embarrassing douche bag

If you like good offense Frans teams are amazing to watch. Gets a ton out of his players doesn’t get many ranked guys

If you could combine him and Pike and take the best of each you’d have the GOAT coach

Iowa fans on Rivals were calling for him to be gone too. I went and lurked after that disaster the other night. I mean Iowa did win the B1G tournament.... last year lol

Seems some fans are tired of chucking 3's and playing no defense saying it gets then into the tournament but they will never make a run with that style.

Complaints on the team being soft. Complaints on talent level. Complaints on Fran playing his kids

Very grateful to have our coach. And wait until Griffiths comes in next year. This team will be a monster. Merry Christmas

Hopefully with Griffiths we can add another very good center/power forward and that Paul and Cliff can stay one more year. I think that with Paul missing almost 5 games and injuring his shoulder and knowing how much he loves RU I think he just might be back for a 5th year. I also believe that Cliff might be back as I think it will be difficult for him becoming a first round NBA draft choice. One more year I feel will be a real benefit to him. If all of this happens I think we should be in the TOP 20 right at the beginning of the season and we could have a dream season.

They are due to go again this summer Cliff could get NIL then. Could be big in his decision to come back or not

Would never work because Iowa’s offense requires a lot of effort. A lot of movement and off ball screening. Meanwhile, Pike’s D takes insane effort.

He’s international (on a student visa), so the NIL refs are different for him. I think he’s been donating to an organization he volunteers for, since he can’t keep it.
