Given our enrollment the turn out should be ridiculously larger
\The people in college now have no idea how to live in the moment and be themselves. They pretend to enjoy themselves so they can post it on 4 types of social media...instead of, ya know...actually enjoying themselves. The students have been pathetic in both major sports for several years now.
I doubt the student section really gets rocking until this program is on the verge of making the dance. A 5-8 conference record after what, 3 straight last place finishes, does not exactly scream must see event. Especially against Iowa.
It’s what @RUskoolie said and this.Could be a generational thing that is changing in warp speed. I think we are seeing a dwindling amount of young kids being “sports” fans.
At the high school level in a few different sports attendance is down huge and when kids come they stay for 1/2 the game and leave
A fan who goes to a game is called a customer, and I assume a paying customer. Ain't no such thing as a bad one of those. That's because for those who do go to a game, if you plant your ass, barring health issues, you are simply a bad fan.

Seen the trend up close and personal for both my boy’s games...one in HS and one in college.
There seems to be more of that going on around the RAC unfortunately.I don't think there were that many non-students for the Iowa game. The problem is they seem to rope off at least 4 or 5 bottom rows of Section 110 for almost every game now and it's filled up with obviously dispassionate/neutral families or non-fans who were given freebies either for some sort of recruiting or youth groups or whatever. And it sticks out like a sore thumb. It used to be like once or twice a year, Schiano would make a big show of having football recruits take up a good-sized portion of one section but now every game there it seems at least a decent portion set aside for these mysterious civilians even when there is demand like there was for Iowa since student allotment was used up.
I really think you nailed the problem. We keep going back to a different time and that ship has sailed unless we win more, but I still don’t think we’ll get back to the juice in the RAC that we all remember. The people in college now have no idea how to live in the moment and be themselves.
