Paul James does not seem to have the burst he had before the injury last year. Yet he's playing.

He's our biggest back ....so switch him (a la Leonard) to FB.

This way Laviano or Rettig (if our coaches ever get their heads outta of the sand) can actually get some time to create, roll out, throw a swing pass (to James as a safety valve if necessary) and we increase the potential # of targets on the field.

Stop playing meathead football doing run, run, pass every series. When something doesn't work, don't keep doing it. Use some imagination. Play harder, smarter, and put in the QB who has the arm to threaten the D.

I totally agree with the James statement. He just doesn't show what made him such a weapon in the past.
At this point, I really have no faith in any of our coaches based on what we are seeing on the field.

Not sure if you were replying to me or not...but thought I'd get you to the coveted 100 likes plateau.

In the very least, give Rettig at least a quarter of play, pass, see what happens. If the D backs off and drops into coverage big time we certainly have the backs to take advantage.

Laviano played a hell of a game..Very little time to throw and took lots of hits to deliver quick short passes..Kids got guts and my respect.

as I posted in the other thread. even though I know we threw to PJ in the flat..when you bring him in it sends "run" to the D every time.

Actually as I write this....the issue isn't so much who runs the ball but what they call. I feel like every run to the outside or short pass to the flat works. most runs up the middle are for zilch. NO POWER BLOCKING ....

Yeah the middle of our OL has been bad with run blocking this season.

Last 'Nasty" player we had was Davis. Not only would he block his guy but he would always be downfield looking for the next guy to block. O Line is guys that are 1) smart and 2) have an attitude.
We can we not field a squad like that? I feel like we'd be better off getting bunch of walk-ons to play the oline. Somebody with a chip on their shoulder. Nobody fires off the ball !
