Suriano is coming off an historic junior season, as the Paramus native finished 29-3 en route to both a Big Ten title and national championship at 133 pounds. At nationals, Suriano defeated No. 1 seed Daton Fix (Oklahoma State) in the 133-pound final, using a takedown in overtime to seal the victory.

New Jersey wrestling’s run in the spotlight continues at Madison Square Garden.

Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs, Rutgers national champions Anthony Ashnaultand Nick Suriano, Princeton All-American Patrick Brucki and Pope John state champion JoJo Aragona will compete at Beat the Street’s 2019 “Grapple at the Garden” at MSG’s Hulu Theater on Monday, May 6.

The guys that have been doing nothing but freestyle at the world level for several years have a HUGE advantage here. I don't see any of those matches being all that close.

If you've never been to the event, there is a lot of pre-wrestling introductory stuff to get through. You'd be getting a beer out of the fridge with that stuff going on, anyway.

I want close matches and to get a gauge on where Anthony is against the best.
